Internet hype says MT90 is some form of magic potion.

Personally I found it completely disagreed with my LSD and now run the "much less expensive but better for me" Comma LS80W90.

Long story short, most GL3 (or up) 80W90 oils will be suitable (figures are from memory). Synthetic is preferable to mineral (mineral oils want changing more frequently AFAIK) and then choose the price vs hype balance that suits you. (If you have shifting issues, MT90 is "supposed" to be good but I noticed no difference when I used it on my NA)

Not hype, I've run Redline MT90 in my rev3 turbo LSD box since 2008. Highly recommended.

My experience:

rev5 NA - MT90 made no appreciable difference
rev3 turbo with stock, sealed LSD - MT90 made no appreciable difference
rev3 turbo with plate LSD - MT90 made LSD engagement so snappy I thought my suspension was tearing apart

So from where I'm sitting, having used it in three different gearboxes and spent around £150 on it without a single positive effect observed, I'd happily say MT90 is just very expensive bottles of nothing special. I would never buy it again.

what differences were you expecting?

I've ran MT90 since 2004 in NA and turbo boxes, I've never had a problem, but the gearbox's havent had a problem to start with either.. Meaning the MT90 has surely done its job, in keeping them in good health.

MT90 is hyped as making clunky shifting better. That's why I put it into the rev5, but I noticed no change at all.

If the argument for MT90 is that "it keeps the gearbox healthy" (ie. the very purpose of gearbox oil!), then there are many, many other oils that do exactly the same thing. We don't have an epidemic of failed gearboxes because the owner didn't use MT90, do we?

Sometimes the internet and forums encourage us to overthink things. And IMHO MT90 being "the best" is a case in point, although it's not as daft as the "A'PEXi filter is best" thing.

Well I guess it cant add gear material where material is missing, but I suppose it will help to some degree as others have had good results, it'll obviously depend on how xxxxx the gearbox is.

But yes, I do agree there are plenty of other oils out there that will keep boxes in good health. As i've never had an issue with a gearbox, even though I do give them a hard life, MT90 is doing the job just fine for me.

Works pretty well.

Have I noticed any amazing differences after using it? No.

Is it the "only" and "best" gearbox oil as recommended by everyone on the internet? No.

Will I carry on using it? Yes.

And what's even better? It's got NANO technology :-$

My turbo has got MT90 and can't tell the difference from what was in before, which was some mineral stuff. I would go for the Gulf competition gear oil next time, as I like their engine oil.
