Blitz NUR R Exhaust with Extra Silencer

Post by Nic »

Finally got around to removing my Blitz NUR R mid pipe, ready to weld in an extra 3" stainless steel Jetex silencer. Space is limited so the silencer isn't that big but hoping it'll reduce the Db's a little.

Nice work mate, I'd be interested in hearing the sound difference. :thumleft:

I'll try and post up a video once fitted. Not sure how much of a difference it's going to make but if it has a similar effect to a tail pipe bung (without the performance drop the bung makes) then I'll be happy.

You should record the before/after db readings for posterity :D

I have a small Burns stainles silencer fitted in line just before my muffler. Can't remember what the db numbers were now but I do recall it was slightly lower even with such a small in line silencer. I also found fitting a bung that reduced from 4" to 3" exit also helped reduce noise slightly too but the 3" diameter was still enough to keep performance unhindered.

I should have thought of that, but it's too late now to do the before video :D

I have a tail pipe bung which does take the edge off the exhaust but significantly effects the spool up and performance of the car. I'm planning on getting the car on Oulton Park later in the year hopefully the extra silencer will get me within the noise limit. If it doesn't then I'll modify the tail pipe bung so it flows better.

Got the exhaust on and it's definitely lowered the sound level at tickover, however the rear exhaust flange is blowing so I'll need to sort that out before I can properly test

I think the only way this could work for my NA would be replacing the 2.25>3" decat with one of these welded in its place.

Hi Dave, there's about 2-3cm clearance to the subframe and ARB, no problems with it catching anything.

could you just modify the baffle / bung so its less restrictive to reduce noise
