Going on from my other post i have removed the bleed valve and replaced it with a GTS-Chris MBC ( see pic below ) .
I have installed this as per the installation that came with the kit and have blanked off the right hand side of the actuator and also the pipe that came off the right hand side .
The car would boost to 0.9 BAR with the bleed valve and the actuator connected but now the car will boost to 1.2 and keep going if i do not come off the throttle .
I have the MBC turned all the way out so this should be less boost but still goes past 1.2 BAR this does the same if i turn it all the way in clockwise ?
All i have done is clip one coil of the spring inside the MBC and thats it .
I have been told to tape the threads but would this help .
Any help would be great
Thanks
Alan

Got it the wrong way round? If you do then the boost will simply rise and rise because the wastegate won't open.
Re: Small MBC problem
Do you mean the pipes on the MBC the wrong way round ?

Re: Small MBC problem
the crudely drawn arrow should go to the turbo, the other end goes to the actuator
Re: Small MBC problem
Ok well thats one out of the way as the arrow on the pic is going to the turbo and the bottom pipe going to the actuator .

Re: Small MBC problem
If you're getting unrestricted overboost regardless of MBC screw position then one of three things is true
1. wastegate stuck closed.
2. MBC installed backwards/incorrectly.
3. MBC is shít.

Re: Small MBC problem
1. wastegate stuck closed. = Was fine yesterday with the old bleed valve
2. MBC installed backwards/incorrectly. = looks good from the pic and pipes blocked up correctly
3. MBC is shít. = its a GTS CHRIS one but will try some things ( tape thread and cut spring )

Re: Small MBC problem
If you take out the MBC and join the two pipes together, how much boost do you get?
Re: Small MBC problem
Will have a play with the spring first then i will take the MBC out and check .
Thanks
Alan

Re: Small MBC problem
as per our conversation mate, the GTS chris controllers aren;t great out of the box, i;ve had a few and everyone of them has needed modified, they are great once sorted
Re: Small MBC problem
Plumbers tape on order and will have another look at the spring .
have cut a small coil off but will have a look and play .
so if there is too much spring is this the problem as i thought untill you turn the knob this will not get compressed .

Re: Small MBC problem
in my case yeah, there was just too much spring inside, it was all squashed up and probably not acting the way a spring should (springy, incase you wondered ), so i cut mine, then stretched it slightly, it's been on my old car about 7 years and held 14psi solid for that whole time
Re: Small MBC problem
It could well be that the spring is a little too strong as standard. If all the other advice hasn't helped, try cutting a coil or two off of the spring and see where you go from there.

What do you think ?

sorry fella, I couldn't say off hand, it's been over a year since I've owned a '2 lol. Just try it and see. Start off with the screw wound out as far as is safe and see if the boost holds at a sensible level.
Re: Small MBC problem
All sorted
Plumb tape and cut and stretched the spring to make it less spring e .
checked the little hole and re assembled and on the drive to work with the knob turned anti clockwise was reading 0.6 bar
Just need to set this up now to 1.15 BAR and we are all done .
Regards

Re: Small MBC problem
should work fine mate, mind it's clockwise for more boost, anti clockwise for less, if you're still having problems, check the actuator is working ok etc....
Re: Small MBC problem
Yeah think it is all good now just need to turn it clockwise to get it to 1.15 BAR .
