Turns out my engine has died after months of trying to get the old girl going due to a catastrophic turn of events
The garage has reported its failed a leak down test yesterday with the engine warm (Hes also going to check again for me tomorrow to confirm) but after everything checked she continues to occasionally misfire
I know there's a whole list of options to get the old girl running again but with the intentions to keep her long term it seems appropriate to shell out for an engine rebuild.
What sort of costs am i expecting to see for a basic overhaul if the garage were to carry out all the work themselves?
This is the basics of what I had in mind:
Replace pistons with forged goodies
replace bearings
re-lap valves
replace belt/tensioner's
All components will be OEM apart from the pistons themselves.
I have no further intentions of going for high power numbers, Just a reliable 300 fwhp as its running at the moment. (im only upgrading pistons now as it gives a nice base if i change my mind later down the line)
anyone with experience care to add some numbers to this please?
Cheers
EDIT: cars a rev 3 tubby

Depends on what you have done.
Oil pump? Water pump?
For a FULL engine expect to pay around £2000 supplied and fitted.

bare in mind most places probably wont warrant the work unless you buy parts they supply.
