the NAs also have to work harder to get to speed.

'Work harder' is very subjective though. They might 'do more revs' but 5krpm in an NA is less 'busy' than 5krpm with a turbo pumping air in and more fuel being fired in.

I am absolutely sure if you ran an NA and a turbo at 5krpm with the wheels off the ground or on a dyno or whatever - so you kept it constant - the turbo would run out of fuel a lot faster.

But then again that's probably countered by the fact you can drive a turbo a bit more lazily and proceed at the same speed...

Swings and roundabouts.

What does westlife get in terms of efficiency?

Standard cams with optimised timings and a block bored to take 87mm pistons.

I have no clue what the Westy does. I don't know how big the tank is and it doesn't have a fuel gauge. I basically shake it a bit when it's parked and listen to how much it sloshes  I am adding one though, along with a few other bits to make it less of a hillclimber and more of a normal car.

I love the idea of this! Also I can't imagine your 2 would have been good on fuel after reading the build thread!

I dread to think what some of the biggest builds on here cost to run :o

I've just had a Rev3 tubby conversion from a UK spec Rev1 N/A, and my mpg has increased, even running the same journey into work and back and booting it, with mild breathing mods and upped boost. Result! Last tank got me 29.6 mpg and for half of that mileage, I was driving with diving boots :thumleft:

Worst I had was 4mpg out of the V6 on a trackday

I can sees single figure mpg on mine! [Mr. Green]

Try an Aristo. Think I could run something like 23-26mpg best............... down to 6mpg worst (and no cheap fuel either, I was paying £1.54/l at the time!!).

...You can guess what was more "enjoyable" driving LoL.

It was fun doing it!

Averaged about 22mpg and the best I got was 35 driving at 60mph behind a lorry for 3 hours. It's always run a bit rich!

i could achieve this im my 300zx twin tubby as well, it was brutal on fuel, although, my rx8s were about the same when having some fun, not even on a track too

How you're 'vette doing? I'm lucky if I get 50 miles to the first 1/4 tank (spirited or granny) but it evens out by half way on the needle (shame it's a big tank).

It was a sprint circuit (curborough) so spent 95% of the time in 2nd at 6.5k rpm, the funny thing was I was taken out in an escort rally car running 500bhp and was gobsmacked he got 4mpg when competing, and then I filled up and got the same mpg. I nearly fell over!
