Rev4 Turbo *mini photoshoot*

i believe they were factory chosen seats in my old jdm rev5 turbo, or at least bought at great expense by previous japanese owner separately as they were on geniune sw20 recaro stamped rails.

seats are Recaro Speeds SR3

i kept them when i sold my rev5, put them in the R32, and kept them again to put in my next MR2,

kept and cleaned in the mean time

Few more bits and pieces updated, excuse the pics, iPhone quality

Jobs to do.
*Investigate occasional slightly low warm idle, possibly sticky idle control valve
*Swap steering wheels
*Swap engine lid trays
Remove;
*charcoal canister
*Coolant lines to throttle body.
*A/c idle up piping

Change of the OEM steering wheel, now running a blue stitched Personal neo eagle 350mm wheel I got from driftworks along with a cheap boss from ebay that lines up and looks great.








Noticed the engine lid tray wasn't in best shape near the latch, started to go a bit rusty along with the sensor bracket. Anyway. As it happens. I'd kept my old rev2 turbo lid tray from 7+years ago!!!! It still was in great shape!!! So swapped those over. Still needs a proper clean thou.

Next up, removal of some what I feel unneeded items in the engine bay
Namely, coolant lines on throttle body, charcoal canister and a/c idle up piping. (Not sure why it was hooked up, no a/c on the car!!)





Clean up of throttle body, removed idle control valve and it was filthy!! Now nice and clean!
I suggest everyone checks there's out, it sorted my very slightly low idle to a now solid 850rpm (every now and then it used to idle at 700rpm ish)

Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of the idle control valve!!!


Charcoal canister


Rear plenum ports. Stock. One is plugged, one goes to a/c idle up valve.
Now I have one going to my boost controller as a boost source, and the other plugged



Charcoal canister removed, new hose hooking top and bottom ports left over

Throttle body coolant lines looped

Why do you remove the coolant lines to the throttle body?

An mr2 mod I've never read about.

Idea being your removing the heat away from the tb/inlet mani created by the coolant.
Seems a popular mod on many a car.

Not that your going to notice a difference, but every little helps.

Nice bay dude, im looking at clearing a few things out too so some good info here to use!
Also i hate the whistle from my ssqv, do u have a before and after as alot of vids on youtube are rubbish.

For me, the no insert sound is clearly the winner! But all depends on what you like I guess.

Not a huge amount to update, but boy was it a time consuming job!

ICE SYSTEM!!


The car was yearning for a little bit of bass.
As it happens id kept my custom mr2 enclosure and 12inch sub from my old mr2 as well as the amps and a bunch of ICE wiring collected over the years (as luck would have it, some matching blue 8 gauge sub wiring too!).


I found some Kenwood components in the doors so happy days there, all hooked up to the oem woofer wiring.
The oem rear speakers were a bit shabby as youd expect on an old car, so decided to eliminate these for now (via HU options) until i get hold of some new rears.

Just some cutting and splicing on the ISO adapter, so oem rears still hooked up to oem wiring, front speaker wiring now going to an amp in the frunk, and some blue sub wiring to the sub behind the seat from another amp in the frunk.

Ive 2 pretty decent 2 channel amps giving out a fair amount of usable power which ive placed roughly in the frunk for now, am due to receive an mr2 specific frunk amp board soon, so i can nicely mount the amps.

Again, just so happens amp lighting is also blue!

sub is a JBL GTO 1264D - 12" sub, 300WRMS, so plenty enough in the mr2 cabin!
Still needs a clean, but fits perfectly behind the Recaros.

Anything attached to a/c tvsv can be removed.
On the oem inlet manifold, passenger side, is a pipe that hangs to the left and attaches to the firewall to the a/c tvsv.

From my pics you should be able to see what you can remove.
I've you've a rev3+ turbo, they'll be a vac pipe from the turbo.
You can remove all of that.

I can explain if more detail with pics if needed dude.

New amp setup




Went with the plug route by the oil filter for my oil temp gauge sensor as per shinnys way. Better than a sandwich plate.
bu88er to get off, but no leaks to report.

Also trying out a couple of ideas with where to mount some gauges
