Yeah not a bad idea, I'd give him your email address and phone number as well :)

Wouldn't it be simpler if you just give the guy a call? You just want to ask if he has the car and whether he is willing to sell it, right?

On the other hand, think about it, you have this guy's address and phone number... If I'd get a call or a letter from a stranger regarding my car I would be slightly worried.

I'd probably drive by his house to see if the car is visible from the street and if so you could just knock to his door and say that you just drove by and saw the car etc. :thumleft:

Hi Adaz, have already thought of your point hence why I ain't keen to ring. Didn't think a letter would freak him out too much as I did sell him the car.
Car hasn't been taxed for a couple of years so don't think a drive by would work.
Was kinda hoping he was on here and would see posts and contact me so it's less weird.

Fair enough mate, it's hard to say what's better really, you probably know the best as you've spoken to this guy before! :)

If the car has been sitting on a drive way for the past few years there's a chance that Google has picked it up so I suggest checking the Street View on Google Maps.

2009 was last time I knew it was taxed and google earth is from 2012. Only bright side is it is now sorn rather than unlicensed.

Taken a couple of days to decide best approach and seeing what I would prefer in his shoes.

Wasn't that address. I have now found the car and wish I hadn't. Forged engine missing, well in fairness engine bay quite empty sad days.

Now waiting to see if current owner wishes to sell

That's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is if you have a car, you don't then sell and then buy it back as the chances are it'll be a dog.

I'm saying purely because a friend had a Celica GT he sold it to someone he knew, bought it back 9 months later and it was nowhere near the standard that it was when he sold it.

Likewise my Celica I swapped for the MR2. I wouldn't buy it back because I know fully well it hasn't been looked after.

You're better off buying another clean example then spending money on that once you know it's been well maintained etc as if you don't you're then correcting it's problems before doing what you want to be doing
