Droplinks for Tein Super Street coilovers

Post by hkwc104 »

Having trawled the forum and the internet I'm still struggling to find a decent and affordable set of replacement droplinks for my Tein super street coilovers. The main problems being the length (190mm) and that they have the bolts facing in different directions.

I've read that the ones from the Avensis fit but can be too short which interferes with the turning circle of the car, etc.

I have also read the drop links from the Mini One could also possibly fit as they have opposite facing bolts but I'm not sure what length they are - if any one knows and can shed some light I'd appreciate it.

Finally, the only other thing I've found which comes close are these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAZDA-PREMACY ... 439c5b0d6c

Like the Tein drop links they have the bolts facing in opposite directions and more importantly they also are the same length (190mm). The only thing I'm not sure is whether the bolt length or diameter is correct - has anyone ever used these to replace their Tein drop links and had any success - if so, I'd love to hear from you.

Cheers,

Henry

I copied the Tien droplinks and made my own...but they would set you back more than double the amount of the droplinks in your link.
The Shaft on the rosejoint is M10, which fits all standard and after market suspension parts for the Mr2 (that i've tried anyways...quite a few)

I've done some further research and according the info about the thread/shaft diameter kindly supplied by djpkins and the info from the following website...

http://www.armspluss.co.uk/SABILIZER-LINKS/mazda

... I'm convinced the 190mm front drop links from the Mazda 323/Premacy should fit onto the front set of Tein Super Streets (and possibly other Tein coilovers).

Cheapest I've found so far are these ones from the link below but can't guarantee what the quality is like but at 4 quid a link I might just give them a go:

Go for it...it's only a flexible link at the end of the day. My droplinks arn't available on this forum matey, but £50 per pair was the price...expensive in comparison, considering that essentially they offer nothing more than adjustability and are servicable.
If you can get ones that fit for £4, I would deffo give them a go...and top boy for finding them, nothing more trick than finding a bit off another car to fix your own...I like gazrev1tubby's brake kit....nissan 200/300 sx/zx calipers with Mazde RX8 discs...

Did you ever try the 323 links out mate? I need some Tein links for the front of mine and want to pay as little as possible.

I haven't had a go at fitting them yet (laziness on my part) but will try them this weekend assuming I can get the old ones off!

Will keep you posted.

Sorry, not quite perfectly, apparently one 'bolt' needs chopping shorter at the tein end.

Just some info on these if they are the same as my teins.

I took them off a few weeks ago to find that the drop links were completely rebuildable in seperate pieces.

I broke the ball and bolt bit. Found some parts on google search with correct thread and pitch and viola! screwed it back onto the bar to the correct length and job done.

All depends if you still have the original drop links to replace the parts you need to though!

I've fitted Premacy ones to the front of mine and they're bang on.

The bolt does sit within about 1mm of the shocker body but it doesn't foul.

Like you guys, I just did some research into what length and spec they needed to be and took the plunge which fortunately has paid off :)

Out of interest how did people find removing the old bolts from the front Tein shocks?

Due to the bolt being seized on and inside the bracket against the shock, did you all just cut through the bolt on the outside? If not how did you get the leverage to remove?

Premacy droplinks definately an option then? Are the standard MR2 rear droplinks still ok to use with tein superstreets though?

Did this with mine super street - and realised in the process I had a leak.

Standard Toyotas (I used Delphi) work fine for rear.

Mazda Premacy for front.
