I occasionally feel flat spots. Particularly when coming off a round about and picking up speed, it feels like it skips a few beats then its ok. Also in other similar circumstances.

Pretty hard to tell, I wouldn't immediately say bottom end failure though. Sounds like a knackered exhaust manifold gasket.

If it happend to be manifold gasket, why did I just pay £1460 to fix the same problem?
Also gaskets have been changed.

Heres what I would do.
1. Call the garage and tell them
2. Ask for the old engine or ask them to tug the sump off and check the old bottom end WHILST You WAIT it may be perfectly fine.
3. If the bottom end is fine on the old motor take engine and request money back after they misdiagnosis.
4. Check gearbox and exhaust manifold
5.

The garage have been told, they said to take it up on saturday. But with all these warning lights, its probably not wise to drive the 38 miles there.

I have a few of the old engine parts they say said were damaged. One being a U shaped peice of metal with a few scraches in, think they said it was a bearing?

One is exhaust temp because of the de cat and others seem to be due to the squeaky belt.

Can you take a pic of the bearing? Seems suspect try to secure the old motor

Weather they have been changed or not it still sounds f*cked mate. As I said, it's hard to tell.

hmmm, he put all the damaged parts in the boot. Old flywheel and belt and engine mounts there. But no bearing?!

Did they check the tolerances on the crank?? Was it scored?? If they have simply replaced the bearing it's a bodge. Is be telling them to collect it, is also ask for a detailed invoice of what has been done.plus receipts for all parts. The gasket kit for.manifold and turbo is 180(ish) on it's own.

They said the bearing and crank were scored, and said he would just do a bottom end rebuild, but then said the topm end had been contamintated too.

They have just taken old one out and striped the aux parts and swapped to the new motor it doesn't sound like they checked.

Using another crank or the same one?? Did they have it reground?? If not, and it's bottom.end failure, then that's why, I doubt anyone would be that silly though.

I was told it was a full tested engine, from a writen off car, and my understanding was it was a stright swop over, but just adding my turbo and exhaust parts.

I guess you can only wait to see what they say, I'd still ask them to either collect it, or accept the risk that driving it to them may make it worse. If they are a reputable company hopefully they won't p1$$ you about.
