How to adjust Racing Gear Coil Overs

Post by dutch_ed »

Hey all,
I have some RG coil overs mounted on my MR2. I like to adjust it for the road and not for the track. It's to hard now and i want it softer.

Is there anybody who can tell me how to adjust them?

In advance, thanks for the help.

Racing Coil Overs

And therein lies your problem.

Coilovers were designed for track use, but it has become fashionable to put them on road cars.

Even worse, MR2 suspension travel is already limited, so by the time you have lowered it a further 35-45mm, you are left with something like 50-75mm of suspension bump (compression).

Since it's not good practice to ride on the bumpstops, coilover springs have to be very stiff, so giving you and the car a harsh ride.

Whilst it is possible to adjust the damping, your spring rate is already defined for you, so to a large extent your stuffed with a hard, jarring ride.

Like i said, coilovers for the track, uprated struts/springs for the road.

Thanks for your comment. :) But they (Racing Gear) advertise that these coil overs are adjustable for road or track. That was my question, how to adjust these for the road and if I need it, for the track.
So i hope there is somebody who can answer that.

"Adjustable for road or track" is normally just marketing speak for adjustable damping rate. Normally, adjustable dampers have a knob or use a key of some kind in the top of the strut, so take a look at the top where the large nut is. Also, take a look at the top and bottom of the body itself.
