hi all . i brought this car about 4 months a go it looked in pretty good nick and as only done 80000 miles .
looks can be deceiving this is what i found , all the usual mk1 rusting places .
a basket case to say the least but at least the front chassis is solid and no rust along the window screen edge bonus
the sills needed renewing so i made some at work .
the rear arches were used off the parts car which had the replacement arch's fitted and were like new , the b post was used as well , all the rest of the panels i made up from sheet steel .
pics of work done .
loads of hours spent on this girl but shes now solid .
i was looking on you tube and i spotted this car which was made up on the forza 4 game .

i liked it so i have done the same paint combination .
50 hours so far going in to painting the sod ,
will take more pics when done . i have got some nice deep dish wheels to finish it off ,
new project .

That is truely excellent work, you never cease to amaze me with the comparative ease in which you bring these rust buckets back to life.

WOW, that's a lot of rust! Nice work on the car so far!
Like the colour scheme. It's now a very rare mint MK1, with probably a unique 3 tone colour scheme

Great job Gary, fantastic seeing someone make the concept come alive. I would love to see a black front lip, black sideskirts and black mudflaps on that

hi paul , i did think about doing the parts you have mentioned in black but decided to follow the concept pics but i think you are right it might break the silver up , i could do with some one on here with the game doing the parts in black first before i repaint them again . i do think thought the wheels are important to the looks off the concept and will finish it off ,the standard wheels look total out off place on the car now .

If you're going for a full replica of the in-game look then I reckon you need to stick one of these on it:

Ive always thought that kit was awfully expensive for something you can make yourself, alot cheaper!

Re: new project .
Wow, considering the amount of rust you found ( ), great job!
I too think a little additional black, here and there, might make it look a little more snazzy, but looks great as it is, as well. Congratulations.
