Am sure for those with tight budgets / non-MR2s if you really want to go in an MR2 then there will be passenger seats available!

Not many lol....

I want to take the toy to her homeland

Well, if there is a passenger seat free or if non MR2's are allowed I'd love to come :thumleft:
I think it would be best to share the driving with someone anyway :-k Any one want to share the drive in my Smart? It is German after all  but you'd need to pack very very light

Don't worry, non Mr2's are allowed anyway, Duderstadt is not about the cars, its about the people :)

As i said before at JAE, if you want to have a stressless travel, don't come with the MR2, use an all-day-car or rent a van or bus, so you can share the driving, have enough space for luggage and it's cheaper.

Peter :)

LOL! Behave Peter! I haven't been to the Ring since 2006, I really have my heart set on some laps of the Ring to celebrate my 40th. Looks like friends of mine are organising a trackday there for next year, so just awaiting dates. If all works out, I can do both!

How do the costs break down ladies and gents?

IE, how much is fuel, how much is ferry. Where do you go, down to Dover, ferry to Calais then drive through to Germany? Or Ferry straight to Germany?

Seeing as I've been a raving petrol head for as long as I can remember, I think it's about time I did an epic car trip really :thumleft:

I think there is no ferry directly to germany, the cheapest may be the ferry Dover-Calais, this costs 1car, 2persons, both ways 88€ what is about 60-70 pound (to Calais and back).
There is also a ferry (i used it twice, its good), from Hull to Rotterdam, it takes 11 hours but u can sleep in your cabin what makes the travel really nice. This one is about 250 € oneway.
Or you come by plane and we will organize shuttle-service! :thumleft:

I really need to do a driving holiday although driving to Hull and back isn't an appealing thought lol (I've been to Hull

I wont put my name on the list, I'll just keep my eyes peeled at what's going on and formulate a plan. Loads and loads of time to put things (money) in place.

Hmm, 23mpg and doing about 2k miles.

Matt, doing the Dover>Calais route, sensible speeds for fuel economy, we did it all in for around £350-£400.
That includes the 'All you can drink' wrist band  , the BBQ at Dude Town, breakfasts, the ferry, petrol, yadda yadda......

This year we left at the crack of dawn on the Friday, and got there for around 3pm. We stayed an extra night (Sunday) and the left for Calais around 9am, and got the 4pm ferry back to Dover.
Next year, i will be looking at doing the same journey, maybe even leaving on the Thursday so as to get a proper long weekend out of it.

Dude Town rocks!

It was 1200 miles there and back, with probably a total of another 60-100 miles driving around while we were there. This was how I did it:

Thursday evening stay in hotel in Maidstone: £29
Thursday evening curry: £10
Friday morning get up and get on ferry: £70 return, cheaper the earlier you book it
Friday afternoon arrive at Duderstadt, pay for our stay there €64 (£50ish)
Saturday afternoon travel into the town to the car show €2.50

Think that was about it. :-k I did 5 tanks of fuel in total including a detour to take Herr Port home :D Fuel is about the same price in Europe now as it is here.

Euro trips don't come much cheaper than that!

It all sounds very do-able. It could be a late 30th birthday present to myself. I'm missing out on that by being on holiday for a mates wedding - git.
