it's actually underway now!
I have done my best to fix any underlying problems which have been reported over the last 4+ years to smooth out forum use until then- the garage has been fully functional again for months now, for example.
Yes, it's plugging holes in a sinking ship, but it provides a slight improvement in user experience while the upgrade work is done in the background.

Short answer is yes- there's another vhost running off the current server for development purposes.
Old phpBB migrations to vB4 are touch and go, though.
It's much better at migrating from phpBB 3.
There are custom alterations to our phpBB database too to support some of the less well thought out plugins/mods which don't help.

Two Brutal updated to vb4 recently and the site is almost unuseable on my 1.5yr old netbook.

It's much nicer to admin and creates less hassle behind the scenes than our current setup though.

, So it's ok just leave them with crap because it work's?
How about actually making the forum better for the members that pay i may add, That statement just seem's there's no"Let's make it better for our members" Type of thing,
Also how about it surely must make life easier for admins aswell so a little work doing it all would benifit everyone surely!![]()

I think you may have taken that the wrong way..
.
Malc was just asking what difference the end user would see with phpBB vs vBulletin.
At the end of the day they're both forums, and how different can 2 forums really be?

I find it hard to see your point when your a mod your supposed to along with the admin make this forum the best it can possibly beThat's why!.
Your just leaving it in the dark age's even my old forum in 2007/8 was more updated than this:O!
Time's move along simple, Your attitude as a mod is not a correct one IMO!
I dont care for computers etc well you'd bloody better start tbh as a club with no members isnt a club is it.
Just seem's so layed back about it all!
IMO,![]()

All I asked was what the difference would make to the average user.

I am not a IT person, never have been, never will be, what I asked was a valid question so I could find out what the fuss was about.
You have just been incredibly narrow minded and insulting!
Especially when you have been on here just over a month.![]()
I have been a member since 2003 and pulled my weight with the club on many occassions, alot more goes into the club than just the Forum you know.
