afternoon guys, as a few of you may be aware, my mk1 has been

"laid-up" due to the cambelt tensioner going pop last summer.

now, the belt and tensioner have been replaced along with the dizzy

(as we first thought this was the problem) and it runs!

when i say

"run" i mean its sluggish and irratic when idling, i had it mot'd yesterday and suprise suprise it fails on the emmisions.

the emmission readings are really high

(i dont have them to hand) and my mechanic is currently scratching his head in despair.

i just called him to ask for an update, which is that its showing a coolant sensor issue from the ecu code.

does this tie in with it running rich?
what should i replace next?
am i wasting my time?
has it bent a valve afterall?

any help would be greatly appreciated guys, its been off the road for too long now.
