[Mk2] [Turbo] blocking off t-vis and manual boost controller

Post by kinnell »

Hi guys.

first tecchie post, nice to meet you all. :thumleft:

got a mk2 tubby with blue flame exhaust & decat, hks induction. currently running standard boost.

The standard boost has probably crept up a bit with these mods.

done a lot of reading about manual boost controllers and t-vis.

understand that the mechanism remains in the inlet manifold and when you fit the manual boost controller, this in effect is redundant and you block off the small pipe to the tvis from the wastegate.

my question is , is the car really sluggish low down and what boost should i be running the car at safe. around 14 psi ok?

14 psi is the limit on a rev 1/2, any more and you'll bust the headgasket :thumleft:

keep it at 14 :thumleft:

good stuff.

ill get a FCD and run at 13 psi (0.9 bar) and see how it goes.

I think from what ive been reading doing away with toyotas t-vis controller is a good thing.

what is standard boost on a rev 2?

do you mean the VSV???

don't think the tvis makes much difference unless you have big power:)

the vsv will stop the boost being limited in 1st and 2nd, you'll get full bust instead, it's much better :thumleft:
