[Mk2] [Turbo] clutch changed 2k ago but gear change at high rpm / load is difficult

as above, basically changed the clutch, std replacement jobbie from Ebay and it works fine. Nice and light but it bites like a centimetre off the floor. While I've adjusted to the feel of that, I've noticed that shifting gear at WOT is quit difficult. No crunch but the gearstick just doesn't want to move. Almost feels like I should be using two hands to move it

What adjustment can I do to make it easier to change gear at WOT

did you bleed the clutch properly
