Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox mounts
UPDATE

No.
The mounts for the 3S-GE are
NOT
compatible with the 3S-GTE.
However, the mounts for the turbo model
ARE
the same for all revisions
(Rev1, 2 and 3+).

Hope this info is of use for fellow sufferers.
Now I just gotta source a damn replacement mount!

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox mounts
Is the mount that attaches to the gearbox
(as described in the article referenced by
toxo
above) the same for the n/a and turbo SW20s?

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox mounts
Thank you for all of your useful replies. Following them, I got under the car and can confirm the middle mount closest to the cabin is NOT connected to the engine (at the turbo area). When I turn off the engine, YES the whole car shakes. All 3 other mounts/brackets ARE attached - I s'pose that is go...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Gearbox mounts
I've been told by a non-MR2 specialist garage that "There is nothing holding my gearbox in the engine bay!" and that all the gearbox mounts need doing . Obviously, this alarmed me! Where can I get them from (don't want TRD stuff, OEM will do fine)? How many mounts does the SW20 have? Has a...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Tubby exhaust mounts - help
I had to do this to pass the MOT the other day! £5 from a scrap yard it cost as my mounting that is supposed to be bolted to the subframe was missing! I have a turbo Mongoose too! Looks something like this: http://www.jdmperformance.co.uk/images/products/17507-74080.JPG Quick google search found it ...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Failed MOT - help with understanding sheet VT30
£207 later, I have an MOT. Firstly, an insanely massive thank you to ashman for the detailed post regarding removing a track tie bar bearing just above. People like you are who really drive the owners club and I really appreciate the time you gave up to document the method so precisely. Thanks to al...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Failed MOT - help with understanding sheet VT30
What tools did you use to pull the bearing out of the old hub and press it back in the hub for the car? The garage doing the repairs to my car say they cannot remove the bearing as doing so would destroy it. They don't understand why I can't get hold of the bearing on its own as you would with any o...

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Failed MOT - help with understanding sheet VT30
It is proving very difficult to find a replacement bush/bearing for the joint (identified below) that has failed the MOT: http://img691.imageshack.us/img691/9171/sw20trackrodouterbearin.jpg I've found what could be a replacement in poly form but I'm unsure if this is it as the description for the pa...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Failed MOT - help with understanding sheet VT30
Just failed the MOT, as usually, every year! Please click on the thumbnail below to see a readable copy of the MOT failure sheet. http://japriority.com/images/readable_thumb.png I know about the handbrake and headlamps, I can do them. But where on the car are the problems located and what needs repl...

[Mk2] [Turbo] Are these springs/dampers suitable?
Found this set of all four struts/springs that are said to come off a 1991 turbo. That is a Rev2 right? The description says it is "bilstein" originals so does that mean they are lower than other OEM sets? I intend to stick these on my Rev1 turbo since mine are going to fail MOT. Bolt stra...

1990 MR2 Viper Green respray
So, after many years of coping with tatty paintwork, I finally got round to having it done. Paint was chosen after seeing the Porsche 997 GT3 RS around Mellor, and thought I could use the same colour colour-scheme for my tubby. Thanks to a mate for a terrific spray job for the money and short time t...

Re: [Mk2] [Generic] Fitting "poor" Border front bumper
I've just got my car back from bodyshop and parted with £300+VAT!!! Looks really good now, and I'm very impressed. They have made it fit with bolts so it can be removed if necessary and put back on exactly the same! Pictures to come soon after my 'guy' sprays the bumper over where they've ha...

Booked in Wednesday 6th May to a proper body shop to have the bumper made to fit and look good.
£300 though

Oh well, I've always wanted a full Border kit so it'll look nice when its done!

Thanks to you all for your suggestions, and especially vinnyninja for posting the picture of his as example. Yep, I too have it where one side the recess where the strips and toberones go on is 1cm too narrow!!! Apart from the front that's going to a bodyshop, the rest of the car looks great. The ol...
