Re: Track pads - OEM/EBC/BD/Ferodo/Mintex/Carbotech etc
Ebc yellow stuff. No pad fade and good price. Every one will disagree but have used them on track with no problems.

Re: Sell or break?
Thanks for all your views. One things for sure, whether you believe in breaking or not it is a very emotive topic on here. I'm still undecided what to do but I wonder if there is ever a point when a car is worth more then all it's parts being sold separately, apart from when they are new obviously a...

Re: Sell or break?
Another way of looking it is for every one that you break keeps some others going on the cheap. I'm still undecided what to do though.

Re: Track day crash
Hi Deano, saw you at Blyton last year, me and my son each had a red MR2 do you remember? It's your worst nightmare having a crash on a track day but the main thing is you are both OK. Had your mate driven a turbo before? They can be quite a handful to the uninitiated can't they? My son drove my turb...

Re: Sell or break?
I think you've hit the nail on the head. It's the only car I've ever owned that I've been sentimental about. I've bought and sold cars, scrapped cars without a second thought but this one (my first one) I just keep making excuses not to get rid of it. I suppose that's why we all love MR2s!!

Re: Sell or break?
Sounds like breaking it is the way to go. It's a shame really because it's a good car and has been totally reliable. I've used it on track and it was great fun especially with the rev3 engine. Mechanically it's good and doesn't use any oil or water but the problem is the laquer is bubbling up all ov...

Sell or break?
Since I bought my rev 1 turbo, my rev1 na has been sat feeling sorry for itself. I've been offered 200 pounds minus alloys and stainless decat back box for them to break. I've thought about putting it on eBay but I know this can be a lot of hassle. Does anybody have any good ideas what is the best t...

Re: Rev 1 mk2 mr2 avoid?
I've got 2 of them, a na and turbo and my son has a rev 2 na. I've driven all 3 of them on track and they all handle great, even in the wet, and are nothing like some of the negative reports you may have read. Having said that the brakes are better on the rev 2 onwards and the rev 2 does handle slig...

Re: Manual boost controller, does it work?
Thanks all for the info. It sounds like it will drive much them same but with more urgency with no issues. Can you suggest a reliable and good quality MBC and FCD please. Also are there any reasonably priced and accurate boost gauges you could suggest? Just one last thought, did any of you find that...

Re: Brakes not working during a spin.
Are you saying the pedal goes solid or are you saying that you can't stop when going backwards after a spin?

Re: Brakes not working during a spin.
Just had a thought, did your engine cut out when you spun? If it did, then the servo wouldn't be working, hence solid pedal and feels like no brakes.

Re: Brakes not working during a spin.
I use my turbo on track so to hear about your experience is a bit worrying. I will try reversing quickly and slamming on the brakes to see what happens. Let me know what happens when you try the same.

Manual boost controller, does it work?
I'm considering installing a manual boost controller and FCD to my rev1 turbo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Would there be appreciable gains on the road? I know Peter would like to discuss it at his workshops but I would like a discussion on the forum to benefit from other peoples experi...

Re: Failed fuel pump? Melted in tank wiring
Has it shorted out where you have tie wrapped it to the fuel pipe? It's burnt out at one side of the wire but not at the other.

Re: Power Steering brushes
Thanks for the info.
Decided to try swapping the brushes with the ones off my old car. These were twice as long and took 10 mins to swap. Now no PS light and all is well.
Noticed the copper wiring on the shorter brushes was a reddish colour, maybe due to them arcing and getting hot?

Re: fao site admin
I hope not :( The only thing I can think is when I first posted as a new member, I mentioned I was on my second mr2 and the first one was looking for a good home? I wasn't trying to sell it on here though as I may have a buyer or will put it on eBay. I am not trying to sell my car on here and will n...
