Re: I think I've just...
The voltmeter says battery voltage looks ok, LED's don't drain much crurrentt or voltage hence why willy's cars (audi's bmw's etc) use led's as drl's instead or normal bulbs, as it makes hardly any difference to fuel economy. Alex I was joking (although not about the warning light). I'll get me coa...

Re: I think I've just...
Clearly it has far too many LEDs; the battery discharge light stays on after he starts it up.

Commendable work. VIC/VOSA/whatever inspection lined up? Hope the examiner appreciates the care that goes into saving these.
Hopefully not! But I know what you mean

Hmmm, that's tempting. Out of interest, what's a typical insurance figure for a V6 conversion like this? My Mk1 Super Charger is £188/pa and if this isn't heaps more...

Might have been useful to mention a colour requirement in your OP, no?
There are plenty of other colours of Mk1 in that same thread.

I found Wolle's pix posted in the big photo thread on the Mk1 forum. Would anyone spend £4000 on an engine conversion and care that much about an extra 5mpg or so?

Re: FTO V6 conversion
I'd always thought the biggest cost of an untried engine swap is development. Being the first to try it is always going to cost blood, sweat, tears and more money. Plus I like the 'keep it Toyota' idea, although I never knew the Toyota V6s were that well regarded. In the same way, I think most V6-in...

Interesting - maybe when it sold on Ebay, the lucky winner wasn't happy when he went to collect?

Maybe see if that German chap - Wolle? - will donate a high res photo? His are among the best I've seen, and some would look fantastic in a large scale image.

It 'sold' on Ebay about a week ago, IIRC. Does look good.

Re: 8 bags for a Charger?!
It's a lovely garage queen. For doing 500 miles a year maximum - to shows on Summer days and to win prizes and kudos. Like a lot of low-mileage modern classics. Add the insurance and tax disk costs and that's a lot of £££s per mile. No-one is going to buy it to drive it often, which makes the SC thi...

Hi Boyzdad, do the caps have a polarity as one leg is longer than the other. Yes, and it makes a difference. On modern polarised electrolytic caps, the polarity is shown by the negative or minus sign marked on the cap's printed wrapper. Sometimes with an arrow pointing towards the lead. You can jus...

Welcome, from another (less-rained-upon) newbie.
The same Cecil that pounced on the 4AGE and 6-speed that Paul Woods jst advertised? (Before I even had time to decide whether buying it was a good/bad idea)?

OMFG I'm really not with it today, Barry I edited your post with the response above and removed half of what you wrote, I'm a pleb sorry. #-o  No worries :) IIRC, I mentioned the X1/9, so maybe it kicked off some deep-rooted editing instinct in you. :D FWIW, I think the AW11 looks all wrong w...

That's some racket! But I presume the MR2 Mk1 spoiler s really purely cosmetic (and dead weight) at road speeds anyway.

Re: mr2 mk1 prices?
Under £2000, maybe half that if we're lucky. I'm looking to buy a second Mk1 (NA this time) and prices are all over the place. Tricky - because when you contact an owner to ask about rust, it's very hard to get a definitive answer. I don't think some owners want to look too close when they're selling!

Re: Mk1 Super Edition F227OVU
Took advantage of what may be the last decent sunny day to go for a quick blast around Suffolk this afternoon. One thing I have now noticed, there's enough torque with the SC that it's really quite forgiving of being in the wrong gear. Coming from an X1/9, it's quite a change to have such easy drive...
