Re: Mk2 or Mk3 for track work?
Alex, since you're in Warwickshire you can't be too far away from Rogue Motorsport. We've got more than a dozen MR2 Championship cars here and I'd be happy to show you around and talk through the pros and cons of each. One thing worth considering if you're building a track car is to build it to MR2 ...

Re: Mikey's MK2 Racecar
What you've built is a 750MC Roadsports car: http://www.750mc.co.uk/formulae/roadsports.htm This series was originally designed for MR2s before being opened up to include other suitable cars. There are a number of MR2 turbos that currently race in it - including a speedster - as well as 2ZZ / 2ZZ su...

For Sale - Veilside Fortune 01 Bodykit for MR2 Roadster
Genuine Veilside Fortune 01 bodykit purchased many years ago direct from Japan. This kit was fitted to my project car and painted but actually saw very few road miles and was mostly dry stored. The kit was then removed and duplicated before being stored in a workshop. This process has damaged the pa...

I saw this pop up on Facebook and I'm interested to see how you get on. You've got a bit of a Rage buggy aesthetic going on! http://www.hovercraftadventures.co.uk/Images/Gallery/Large/1%20Person%20Rage%20Buggy.JPG Very interesting idea. The MEV Rocket was for people that wanted an atom like car. Not...

Re: Good Link G4 mapper?
Just for clarity, we use a selection of ECU technologies and companies to calibrate them. This includes Ryan Griffiths / 2Bar Tuning for Syvecs, Dave Rowe / EPS for Motec, Peter Betts / Thor Racing for Link and Apexi. I've never had a bad job from any of them. We've used the dyno facilities at AME (...

Re: MR2 Trackday in 2015?
If you can hold that thought, I'm currently looking into organising an MR2 only trackday for March next year at Donington Park. You'd be sharing the circuit with MR2 Championship drivers pre-season testing.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] ABS not working after engine swap
The sensor wires should match up. Check and see if you have power at the ABS ECU, as this does need to be repinned in the passenger footwell. You're looking for a black wire with a yellow stripe on the ECU-IG circuit.

Re: [Mk2] [Turbo] Beams vvti head on a 3sgte???
Anything is possible. But what would be the point? The BEAMS block will likely be stronger than the 3SGTE due to being a newer casting and already has the oil gallery for the VVTi.

The speedo sensor feeds the instrument binnacle which then processes the signal and supplies the ECU.

Re: [FINALIZED] What's it worth? Beams turbo
The VVT on this engine is continuously variable and under ECU control. The VVT actuator was modified to restrict the amount of movement that could be achieved electronically to mitigate the risk of piston to valve contact in the event that ECU control was lost for any reason.

Re: Car caught fire....again!
I'm pretty sure I can answer your question here. It was your coolant that was on fire! The flash point of ethylene glycol is ~250 degrees c and it will be pretty well atomised by the pressure in the failed hose. It will then spray directly onto the hottest part of the engine. You should also have no...

Re: Lifeline Plumbed-In Fire System
BTW, now's the time to upgrade those heavy steel bottles in your race cars. Especially as you're a firm believer in making a car faster by removing weight! :D There's no need to fit a lightweight extinguisher in an MR2 Championship car - you can hit the minimum weight limit with ease so no point sp...
