Good Link G4 mapper?

Post by Odin_S »

I'm looking for a company which has good knowledge of this. Been in contact with Ryan 2 bar tuning and he said he doesn't do them.

I want this done right, surely there has to be someone

ive "heard" a few interesting stories about thors mapping.
basically barely tweaking base maps, or cars dieing on the way home.
this was a while back mind you.

ive no personal experience of them, ive only ever used Ryan at 2bar.

research AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE with who you choose.

do you already have the G4?

personally, my opinion when it comes to ECU mapping is to find the closest reputable, proven mapper to you and then use whatever ecu they are comfortable mapping.. be it megasquirt, PFC, link, Fcon-v etc... no point having a top of the range ecu if you have to trailer the car the length of the country and spend big money to get it mapped when there's someone round the corner who could get the same results with a different, maybe even cheaper system. realistically for 99% of mr2 builds the newest, fastest ecu with every feature under the sun isn't strictly necessary.

obviously if you've already got the G4 then the above is just pointless rambling

Thanks guys, I already have the Link G4. I'll say again Ryan will NOT map it I rang him today. He even went as far as saying they were crap. I'm thinking he's not allowed to map them anymore because of syvec

I'm at a lost now, was banking on Ryan doing it

So the only person who most of us would trust mapping our cars now only maps with one of the most expensive solutions. God knows what i'm going to do when I need a standalone then.

The entry level S6 will run you close to 2 grand with a loom adaptor for the sw20. Thats not taking mapping into account either, I mean i'd love a syvecs but it just seems like overkill for what I want to do which would be a slight fuel system upgrade for my td05.

He should probably update his website because it still says he maps apexi and link.

He did say he's still do Apexi, I think because it's ancient and it poses no really threat to current ECUs

This is slightly disappointing news. I've just bought a Link G4+ and was planning on Ryan mapping mine too :?

Ye, you can use the turbine housing from it but if you are buying a gtx then you may as well just buy the lot, imo. Pm me if you're interested. Not sure what I'm doing yet.

Anyway, apologies for changing the subject - Back to the mapper issue.

I keep seeing the Skyline owners recommending a guy called Martin Battye at MB automotive. Anybody here have experience with him?

Look forward to hearing about your experience :thumleft: Only about 2 1/2 hours away from me. How long are they keeping the car?
