Check that the ABS ECU is receiving the STOP signal when you put your foot on the brake. UK speedo will read correctly and will clear the engine management light. You will still have the limiter in place at ~112mph.

Yes, disconnected speedo = engine management light. It won't affect the car in any other way, with the exception that the built in speed limiter is now disabled.

My last MR2 Championship mk2 weighed in at 1021kgs. It was a G grade tin top, so no ABS and no PS from the factory. Not so much giant killing as punching above it's weight. The Xenon is able to compete with cars in a different class running an additional 50bhp!
