Did you use forlife coolant?

My bet is the thermostat! easy job to replace it.

Sounds like faulty temp sensor, air lock in the system or thermostat is stuck!

Maybe try bleeding the system first?

I agree with the above. Sounds like the timing belt is slightly out or they havent set the timing after it's been put together.

Most problems like this can be solved like this by attaching the ground to an earthing point as close to the sub as possible...
