Re: Oil Leak

As Peter mentioned, the rocker cover is a common source of leaks. Due to the angle of the engine, the oil has a tendency to run towards the rear and onto the inlet manifold, before spreading to any number of strange places (partly due to the aerodynamics). Does the sill around the back of the rocker...

Re: Tweeters and blue box in the door

The turbo models have different tweeters than their N/A EU counterparts (three brackets as opposed to the N/A's two), however. the blue box you mention sounds like an aftermarket item.

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

Ok, this steering issue is turning out to be a real f**king nightmare! After column was replaced i noticed she was pulling to the left, so assumed tracking was at fault. 2 companies and 3 wheel alignments later she's still pulling to the left + if i indicate and turn left, the indicator won't click ...

Re: Wind noise from tweeter cover in doors

There are a few holes in the door underneath the tweeters, i assume they are for surplus cables on certain models (eg GT-S).
I filled them over with silicone and the noise disappeared.

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

Ok but what was wrong with the old one?

Thats what i would like to know.
A valve on the column was suggested as a possible cause, but the exact problem is still unknown.

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

Thanks everyone for your help. The problem has now been located and corrected, although slightly sooner than i had anticipated, due to the sh**ty new 2012 MOT regs causing it to fail the test (if you have an aftermarket steering wheel without the factory fitted airbag, beware)! The steering column w...

Re: 8mm pipe for bleeding, where can i buy?

Parts Center should stock 8mm regin silicone tube and i believe pts do as well, for a very reasonable price.
Search partscenter.co.uk or ptsplumbing.co.uk for your nearest store.

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

The steering is extremely light throughout the whole steering range and I'm only able to keep the car going In a straight line for a few days after the alignment has been set before it goes wobbly again. I thought i had removed the pas fuse, however, i did this whilst recovering from my festive esca...

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

Thanks for the advice I understand the converter could be faulty, but even with the pas pump constantly on, the steering shouldn't be that light (this has been confirmed by James at JDModified formally 3S Service Center). When i removed the fuse the steering did improve but was still noticeably ligh...

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

I'm currently running 205/40/17 on the front and 225/45/17 on the rear. Does anyone know of a good place in the south east, preferably in the surrey area, whom could check and adjust all the required settings. You and your son appear to be quite evenly matched so good luck in beating him Bob, im sur...

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

Ok, i have removed the pas fuse and it did make a huge difference, however, the steering still feels lighter than it should and still provides minimal feedback. Can anyone please advise? Ps. Good luck Bob "South West Toyota MR2 specialist" and your son Stephen (i believe, but could wrong),...

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

You're correct in noting the original 180kph limiter has been removed (upon importation and required UK conversion). I was advised by my garage that even if the power steering pump was always on, the steering would still not be as light as it is, however, I do have a small amount movement in the ste...

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

Thanks everyone for your help. Yes, everytime i get the alignment checked it does require adjustment and both garages did agree there was a problem, but neither could locate it & just said i would have to wait for the problem to get worse before it could be diagnosed! Think ill take her down the...

Thanks, didnt think of trying that to test the pas, but i did try it to test out my turbo timer & in the process almost crashed into some parked cars as the steering became extremely heavy

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

Thanks for the advice. i have experimented with various tyre pressures on both front and rear with differating results. Some worked better than others depending on road conditions, but far from solved the problem. Doesn't a full wheel alignment require some adjustment the geometry (although i do hav...

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

The garage i took my car to confirmed that even if the car sensed i was doing 5mph at 70, the steering would still not be that light, leading me to believe its not the pas thats at fault. However, when coming to a standstill after a long journey at a constant speed, the speedo did stick at 70 (twice...

Re: Very light (dangerous) steering problem rev2 turbo

Thanks for the quick reply's. The power steering pump has been proven to work correctly and the speedo is working within the normal range. Im convinced the extreme lightness couldnt be caused by the power steering system/pump however i will take ur advice and flush the system. Any further advice wou...
