Re: Anyone got crumbling Yellowstuff pads? EBC say its normal?!

I must admit to being a little lost with bedding in brakes. The manufacturers seem to suggest gentle applications for the first couple of hundred miles then online the talk is of putting heavy heat cycles through them. I decided to do both, gentle for first applications and then heat cycles, each fr...

Bog standard digestives, no grooves, no holes. Always worked really well with Mintex 1144 custard creams

My rears seem ok too. The fronts are wrecked in my opinion. What do you run on the front?

Anyone got crumbling Yellowstuff pads? EBC say its normal?!

Hi all, Its my turn for problems i think!... I've just purchased a full set of yellowstuff pads. I bedded them in with several heat cycles, did 1 track day and the edges are crumbling away! EBC technical say this is perfectly normal as they are an organic aramid composite and it wouldn't be unlikely...

Re: Turbo anti roll bar dangerous on track?

Hi all, I know its not good practice to have 2 change at once but new "safer" geo and new whiteline ARB at max stiffness fitted today. Not possible to test car properly yet but its certainly a lot more balanced. It still has a decent turn in and you are no longer scared of lifting gently f...

Re: Turbo anti roll bar dangerous on track?

Hi all, Just had garage check geo: Front: Zero toe in, 2deg negative camber (rounded to nearest 0.5) Rear: 2mm toe in total, 3deg negative camber (rounded to nearest 0.5) I've left the fronts alone and had the rear set to the following: 3.5mm toe in, 1.5deg negative camber I'm guessing that the orig...

Re: Turbo anti roll bar dangerous on track?

I'm booking the car in today to have its geo checked. The toe in should be set at the TRD settings so we will see! Thats part of my question tho, is my car now so stiff on the rear that it has become too sensitive. Do any of you run cars this stiff on the track or have i gone too far? I'm hoping wit...

Re: Turbo anti roll bar dangerous on track?

Yeah i'll try that next weekend. It was so bad that the only solution was to disconnect it and run the day no ARB at all, hello body roll and understeer! There's only one other thing i can't quantify at the mo. I loaned my car to a mate for 3 weeks for the inevitable welding for the MOT. When i had ...

Re: Turbo anti roll bar dangerous on track?

Maybe I'm becoming a wuss then! I've ordered an adjustable Whiteline front ARB so hopefully i can balance the 2 together I was at an airfield track called Keevil and the one corner in particular was off camber in the second half and changed surfaces. Everyone was suffering with understeer. I think m...

Re: Turbo anti roll bar dangerous on track?

Thanks for replies all, I've had my struts slotted and run about 2.5deg camber and zero toe in on the front and about 2deg and only a touch of toe in on the back. The car does sit fairly low and does have a fair amount of stiffness already but it was fine like this beforehand I like oversteer as muc...

Turbo anti roll bar dangerous on track?

Hi all, I've track day'd my Mk1 for a couple of years now and this weekend i fitted a mk2 Turbo rear anti roll bar as I'd read it was a big improvement. I tested it on the road and yes i got the sharper turn in and no understeer but on the track this turned into being down right dangerous! Power-on ...

Re: Can a Mk2 rev3 Turbo handle regular trackday abuse?

I had seen a couple of turbo's boiling over at the track side. Poor maintenance do you think then ? Heat soak?

Is the rev 3 known to be any better than earlier versions do you know?

Can a Mk2 rev3 Turbo handle regular trackday abuse?

Hi all, Anybody have any experience of running a turbo on regular trackdays? I'm just a bit worried about reliability of several 10-15 minute sessions of constant full throttle, max revs kind of abuse and then drive home? I did have an Aw11 and that just lapped it up, not sure a turbo would be as go...

Re: Sunroof deleting on Mk1b

Thanks

Was exactly as you said. I covered it with a 1.2mm ally plate and rivetted in place

Hopefully worth a couple of seconds round the track! I wish!

Re: Sunroof deleting on Mk1b

Sorry to confuse!

Sunroof deleting on Mk1b

Hi, I'm planning on removing the sunroof to save weight on my track car and just wanted to ask if the steel subframe comes out easily? There appears to be several plates linking it to the sides of the roof, but if you look around the gutter of the sunroof it appears to be sealed to the roof. Are the...

New guy, just saying hello

Hi all, I've bought a Mk1b to do some track days and just wanted to say what a great car it is! I never realised how effective it would be around a track. It surprised many Imprezzas, BMW's etc etc. Its not as if its cost me much either... £500 car, stripped out, springs, 4 wheel alignment, brakes, ...
