[Mk2] [Turbo] rev2 lambda sensor mot questions

Post by xxlukexx »

Hi,

My car failed an MOT on emissions this week. In terms of CO2, I think they ran it through a cat test, so I should be able to get this sorted by speaking to them. I remember seeing a scanned page from an MOT manual on here a while ago - don't suppose anyone has a link? I think it was some kind of flowchart, showing which emissions test to do on different cars?

It also failed on the O2 measurement, and I've noticed rough idle and poor MPG once warm. Apparently the Toyota lambda sensors are expensive. I've found two:

40 quid: http://www.lambdasensor.com/main/mr2.htm
100 quid: http://www.camskill.co.uk/products.php? ... 2453p11976

Does anyone have any experience with either of these, or any advice on which is best to get?

Thanks in advance,

Luke

Hi buddy, I remember these problems only too well, mine failed on the emissions, it used to drink petrol and also had rough idling and stuttering on acceleration.

I bought a new lambda sensor from lambdasensor.com approx 8 months ago and god what a difference. That site was recommended to me by another guy on here (can't remember who sorry) so like him I would definately recommend them. I've had no problems since. If I remember I got the single wire sensor by mistake and they happily exchanged it for the 4 wire.

Hope this helps :thumleft:

Hi, thanks for the reply. That sounds exactly like what mine is doing.

What rev do you have? I'm trying to work out whether I need a single or four wire one for a rev2. Most posts on the forum seem to suggest single, but there are exceptions.

If anyone knows the answer to this, please let me know...

Thanks,

Luke

Thanks a lot, I'll order one of those.

In case anyone finds this thread on a search in future, the reason I was confused is that (according to someone on mr2oc) the UK NA rev1 had a four wire sensor, but the turbo rev1 and rev2s all had single wire versions.

Cheers,

Luke
