Mk1 Decals

When you say decals do you meen the 3 stripes or the eagle logo's too.

There is some-one on E-Bay selling the eagles and the Toyota letters for the front bumper. Sold in silver or black I think.

I replaced the 3 pinstripes on my Mk1b before Xmas. Couldn't find them anywhere and tried to get some made up. No joy, so the Graphics place I use got me twin 2mm silver pin stripes. I put the twin stripes on and then did a single one underneath it. Did the whole car and went over the ones on the side mouldings too. Looks great if I do say so myself.

You really need to replace the whole lot as you won't get a proper colour match due to the stripes been 18 years old.

PM me if you can't get hold of any and I will see if the place still has some left. He should do, as he ordered a full role for me and I only bought what I needed.

sorry when i said decals i meant the pinstriping - i am gonna replace it all as some of it has been painted over before and i want it all to look right - bit of a perfectionist

Can i get them from toyota?

Was it a pain to do the three stripes seperately? Can imagine it was very fiddly?

you can try to get them from toyota but you will find they will only have part of the set. i am the guy who does the eagles and front emblem. soon to do the rear boot lid/light decals. i can get sets of stripes made up but not instantly. as a one off they are expensive but if a few want some then its worth me thinking about.

The proper Toyota stripes are printed onto a single width of clear vinyl. Most people who try and replicate the stripes themselves with off the shelf stripes end up just sticking on 3 strips of coloured vinyl which looks obviously wrong to pedantic types like me.

Although I've not seen crazylegs stripes in person I know he is the kind of person to do it properly so if you're a perfectionist then get some from him. Alternatively if you only need the short sections on the front and rear wings (as most people do) then try and get one of the longer bumper sections from Toyota and cut them to length.

I'd be interested in some of those Jinxy when you get them sorted :D The flexi body mouldings are particularly hard to come by.

I got a set of front end decals including front wing from Toyota around October/November last year without a problem so it wouldn't hurt to ask them.

I did try Toyota just a couple of months ago. I wanted a full set of White ones but they could only get 5 of the 6 pieces required! I didn't buy them as they were very expensive and unless I could replace all 6 there didn't seem much point :(

Possibly interested, though not 100% sure which decals you are talking about getting made - can you post a pic for dumb people like me?? I'm doing a front end rebuild on a white car, so whatever is supposed to go on the front (stripes look black, toyota badge is silver??)

Regarding the triple stripe stick-on job that goes round the whole car,a pedantic question is what were the different colours that were OEM?
I say this because I replaced the old stripes on my light blue metallic mk1b with an aftermarket black one that looked fine...but the original was actually very dark blue.
Can you tell I haven't much to do today? :)

ok people i now have got the stripes back and they are looking good. i just have to check them to make sure they are a perfect match. remember to pm me with any comments /questions.
just a note did you know the black ones are not black ? dark metallic charcoal colour apparently ! sounds a bit poncey to me.
