[Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A
Am fitting a l/w flywheel and looking at uprated clutches for good measure as part of my itb build -while we're at it with the flywheel. Got a C-One flywheel coming but where's recommended for uprated clutches? Both Rogue and Fensport are offering the Helix stage 1 clutch packages for around the £410 mark -just checking if there are other sources (cheaper as always) before I place an order -hopefully in a couple of days time. Have found one or 2 alternatives -most seem to be floating around this price mark.
Thanks for any pointers,
Richard
BTW -street suitable clutches rather than track day / sprint / 1/4 mile suited ones. And no E-Bay.

Well I think I'll stick with the Helix ones which were recommended to me. I see black diamond do uprated clutches but at £150 that sounds too good to be true.
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A
thought you ordered thatflywheel from nengun?

should have checked the trd clutches while you were their.

Holy crap, how long have I looked on there and not seen that.
...Take it it's these 2 which go together then:
31210-ST851 Clutch Cover - 224Ã?150 - 710kgf GB £ 128.26 GB £ 187.13
31250-ST851 Clutch Disc - Sports Facing Type GB £ 119.41 GB £ 178.29
...so, £365 -I thought there were bearings etc. to change at the same time?

Aye those go together
- will be investing in that set myself.

I'm assuming you use oem replacements for the bearings n stuff.

Saying all that by the time you've done all that and paid customs you'll be as near as the cost of the helix kit.

But me being me, i'll be getting a trd one regardless

...ah Nick you name whore you! -LoL.But me being me, i'll be getting a trd one regardless
I was thinking the same thing about the total end price and not sure what the difference between the two will be in the end. At least I'm seeing alternatives round about the same prices so far.
I should give you a shout on my way back up when it's all done -sometime around April hopefully, let you have a look at the itb's fitted. I'd likely be crashing at the folks before heading up home.
Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A
looking forward to april

if you net the same kind power hike that wfx got then i'm going to Rogue!

Hi Nick,
oooohhh, if Wayno got that figure -and it's the same for me then I will die a happy man! I'm deliberately not posting figures. So long as I'm -0+1bhp then I'll be happy -with the benefit of all the throttle response. Wayne's given us some really good help via E-Mail / PM and I still just don't get his set-up -too big an exhaust and too short trumpets??? Glenn's obviously protecting his interests but I have asked him about ECU's if he can get them at a reasonable price.
Anyhow, after we spoke tonight, I'd be interested in any extra info elsewhere. Edophus lives about a mile away from me and is planning the same thing so we should all speak to each other, collect oppinions, make our minds up etc.
I'll PM you right now about what we discussed....
Ta muchly,
Richard
BTW, spoke to Partick M today and went Helix in the end.. Never did hear back from Nengun about my question so far so we'll see.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A
theres a clutch shop on ebay that does exedy clutch kits for the n/a.
.
.
and there only around
£100

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A
I ended up chatting to Patrick M and went for a Helix clutch pack. They're holding on to it until I get down there.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A
your best bet is to use an ACT 6 paddle clutch for the 5s-fe.
.
.
it will fit your NA flywheel and they hold a lot of power, cheap too! we use these on all the supercharged v6 builds running NA gearboxes.

Check out the ultrarev website for details.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A
no link?

any 5s-fe clutch kit will work with the 3s-ge flywheel and gearbox with no extra parts needed.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A

man thats so cool prob just as expensive as a stock 3sge clutch an i presume thats better?i dunno bout the proper na tuners above lol but i dont really wanna have a really heavy clutch pedal and crappy town driving

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A
Sod's law there's a suggestion come up after I've got one!
...Anyhow, I have been told that the stage 1 Helix pack is absolutely fine for street use.
I haven't checked out the link for the other one yet but sticks in my mind that a stock cluch is something like £90-100 as a comparison?

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A
the reason we use these ACT 6 paddle clutches is that they feel very stock, just like a turbo clutch in feel really.
.
.
.
and they dont ruin the drive at all while holding good power,i highly rate them.

Re: [Mk2] [NA] Uprated clutches for N/A
would this work ok?

3sgte ligtened fly
3sge or 5sfe clutch plate
and a 3sgte pressure plate to fit to the fly?

??
