[Mk2] [Turbo] advice buying a rev 4 turbo..

Post by cornyenty »

right... seen this rev 4 turbo i like... the car is in superb condition with some tasteful mods 2, but always a but.. the only problem with it it needs a gear linkage be cos the 3rd gear is sometimes hard 2 get in.. he has just bought some new 1s and has no time 2 fit before sunday... is this true and what advice can u give me.. is the gear box fooked ? or does this sound right and expensive 2 fit?

Hmm, not sure it would be caused by the linkages. Seems like he's trying to make it look like a cheap fix. It's not a great sign when gears don't go in very easily.

It could well be worn syncro's which means a rebuild or replacement gearbox. You can pick up low mileage ones off e-bay for around £250 but there's always a risk. Rebuild would be about £450ish.
