How to identify engine revision (3s-gte)

Hi, I'm trying to identify an engine before I sell it.
Does anyone have a general guide to spotting which rev a 3s-gte is?
I would also like to confirm the rev of the one in my car (without removing it ) it could of been swapped in Japan or by previous owners in this country.
I dont want to sell it on and then find its a rev1 block mated to a rev2 head etc.

The one in my garage has the number 11111-88385 stamped on it.
It has a yamaha timing belt cover (why yamaha?) with 3s-gte & x3 on it.

Rev 1 & 2 look like this:

Both of the above have the optional TRC, so don't worry if that's missing from your engine. The biggest giveaway that your engine is rev 1/2 or rev 3+ is that the former has the word "TOYOTA" cast in the cam cover, the latter does not.

There are some differences between revision 1 and 2 engines. If you need those pointing out then just give me a shout.

The Yamaha connection needs to be mentioned: Yamaha developed the Toyota 2000GT and was a Toyota partner in the design of most Type G heads. Most engines/heads, including the 3SGE/3SGTE (now in it's 4th generation), the Previa specific 2TZFE/Z (no relation to the old T engines), and the newest 2ZZGE engines were and are still designed and cast by Yamaha. Yamaha also assembles most of the Toyota G model engines.

I just checked and the cover does have Toyota cast on it - Rogue, I was actually looking at those pictures on your website the other day (wondering about retro fitting traction control so i could continue to nap in the ice but it all cleared up for now....)

When people talk of Toyota reliablity I guess we should tip out hats to the guys at Yamaha also!

Looks like 7 exhaust stud manifold pattern, therefore rev1.

rev1 7 studs
rev2 9 studs
rev3 8 studs

The bottom pic is defiantly a rev 3. Do you know the history of the car as it must have had a transplant at some point.

mmmm, what engine numbers would diffrentiate (sorry) the two- I have the V5 form handy-I think.
