[Mk2] [Turbo] A sad day.......

Post by deadhumancollector »

Well today was the last straw, my car was immaculate when i bought it and i've spent so much on her over the years, but in the last year she has been hit and run 4 times leaving a dent in my passenger door, a big split in my rear bumper, a big dent in my front wing and a crack in my front bumper. I had got the money together to get her re-sprayed and fixed up and i've been collecting parts for a long time to get her looking mint again.

Yesterday, i came out of work to find that one of the willys working in the building site next to my office has written 'SH!T' on the bonnet with a blade of some sort, made a right mess of it.

Something popped in my head and i can't stand the cost of paying to repair her. so as of this weekend i will be breaking my pride and joy so that these jealous parasites can't p1$$ me off anymore.

I nearly cried lastnight at the thought of doing it.

i have a very good job, i just think i would probably be up for murder if i caught someone near it after having it resprayed. I think i must retire for now from the mr2. I have a feeling i will be back but i just can't take the hurt anymore, i get so worked up its dangerous :(

I bought a bmw to tide me over.....so in my head i think the decision is made.

I couldn't stomach to see someone else driving it so the only logical step is to break her as much as it will hurt.

As usual nobody saw a thing.....i have a suspicion of who it is.

I caught i guy walking towards it the other day outside the office, one of the JCB drivers....but then again he could've just been having a look at her, lots of people do if they are interested in the car.

If thats the case,

It might just be about a nice car, so if you get a ncie BMW they will jsut do it again.

In the last incident, were they targeting the you or just the car. I'm thinking, won't the beemer cause you the same issues?

Big shame mate, looks like you were on your way for a nice set-up on the 2.

Bad luck mate, I think I would kill as well if that happened to me. Why dont you use it as a toy and drive the beemer to work/in general?

its just the fact of paying to respray it against what she is probably worth doesnt stack up. i've spent a lot on her over the years and i've been screwed over soooooo many times by muppets, garages etc and i think i've just had enough of it. £3,500 on an engine that went pop after 1500 miles from one garage

It's just a bit of a tragic tale i'm afraid and like i've said i don't know whether i can stomach it anymore.... :(

Thats seriously harsh. If you even have a slight idea who it might be I would report it to the police and see if they can sort it out.

Sleeping on it isn't a bad bit of advice. When you do have soemthing bad like that happen to your pride and joy people do tend to get over-zelous in there reactions.

Take a deep breath and let it lay for a while, then decide - thats when you will make the right decision.

All the best anyhow.

Hi mate I bought a polo for £80, spent a few quid on it. It's just sailed through it's mot and I'm into the third year of ownership. Forty odd mpg and I don't have to worry about where I park it or what happens to it. It doesn't stand out from the crowd so it doesn't attract unwelcomed attention. Something to think about.

there are mongrels all over the uk and for that reason i got myself a decent pad so the car can be parked up safely and a vw polo to use for work and college. i still worry but not as much and it`s such a shame we have to take these measures.

could you not do something along the same lines and just use the two for pleasure :-k

my heart goes out to you dude but dont be beaten....

good luck with whatever you decide :thumleft:

I'm feeling for you dude but don't do anything in haste, nor while your emotions are high. Wait at least a week then consider your options... could you get a respray through your insurance now as it's been vandalised?
This sort of thing convinces me there is a market for an in car cctv system. Should only take maybe 4 or 5 tiny spy cams linked to a hard drive and set by the alarm activation. Warnings of the system might even put these w*****s off in the first place. Considering how many expensive cars are on the roads I'm surprised one doesn't exist already.
Hope you keep it 'cos remember... your only this pi$$ed off 'cos of how much you like this car.
Good luck.

Keep it!

Mines been keyed three times, even on Xmas day, had a breeze block chucked through the windscreen and had the passenger side window smashed twice! (although I've had mine nearly 8 years) and after finally getting it on the road after two years........within two days the bottom ends gone ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) .

Never got written on (yet), although I came back to my old Datsun 270Y one night to find someone had written "NICE CAR C*NT CHOPS" down the full length of the car, but we just peed ourselves laughing.

You'll regret breaking it. Step away from the vehicle, and count to 10. [-X [-X

Agree with the previous posters - take some time, take a deep breath and then decide what to do. Never rush these things, particularly if you already spent a lot of money on the car. Check the value of breaking, check the value of selling it - check time, facilities for removing and storing bits and also your ability to devote time to breaking it.

I came back and found someone had put a National Front symbol across the bonnet of my old Golf - not happy. Thanks God for stick on splodges!

Sorry to hear about your bad run of luck but I'm gonna have to go with the masses and urge you not to sell or break your pride and joy!

Obviously you really like your car so breaking it would really p*ss you off. Yeah, you feel like you've been backed into a corner by the cretins of the world and would rather sacrifice it than risk further damage. You also sound like you're struggling to justify the cost of getting sorted against the worth of the car. Quite a few of us have been in that situation, myself included!

My car was mint when I first bought it. It was fine for a couple of years then I had my own run of bad luck. I parked up in a layby off the motorway one day to stretch my legs during a long journey. An air conditioning pulley from a bus or lorry sheared off as it went past and bounced into the back of my car at probably 50mph! Split my rear bumper and completely destroyed one of my exhausts. A few months later somebody put a half inch wide scratch on it all the way down the passenger door and rear quarter. A few months after that somebody reversed into my drivers side wing, caved it right in and didn't leave a note.

I felt like chucking the towel in and giving up same as you do now. The cost of the repairs to get it back to it's former glory out weighed the value of the car but at the end of the day it's not just some sh**ter of a euro box. It's an MR2, a gorgeous looking car and bags of fun to drive! I've just spent in the region of 6k getting mine kitted, resprayed, new wheels etc and even though the money value of the car isn't worth the money I've spent on it the satisfaction i'm getting far outweighs the cost! I bet more than 50% of the members in IMOC have probably spent more on their cars than it's actual value! I've bought myself a cheap run around for work now as the 2 has been retired to weekend plaything status.

Sorry for the essay but I hate seeing people losing their pride and joy because of idiots! My advice to you would be to think on it for a few days before doing anything. Get yourself a shi**er to drive to work in. Get your 2 sorted (you know you want to!). It's a great feeling rolling up to the body shop on collection day to see it sitting there gleaming like a new pin. Well worth a few grand imo

Well put Moo. I easily get put off my car when things break, but I bet its very frustrating with what happened to you. My S13 cost me a lot to run so I sold it and got this car. Only one moronic thing happened to me so far, and I found some tool had thrown an egg at it one night. I was livid!!!!! But a wash and I was on my way. I know that probably doesnt help but what I am trying to say is go on everyone elses advice.

Get a banger for work.
Fix your car in due course and be more dilligent where you park it.

I know, I know we shouldnt have to do that and I wont park my car in certain places, yours even more so if I were you - its an eye catcher alright!!

Sleep on it, take it for a blat early on Saturday morning and then see how you feel.

Good luck mate, there are loads of shitheads out there and why should they spoil our fun :thumleft:
