Sorry to hear about your bad run of luck but I'm gonna have to go with the masses and urge you not to sell or break your pride and joy!

Obviously you really like your car so breaking it would really p*ss you off.

Yeah, you feel like you've been backed into a corner by the cretins of the world and would rather sacrifice it than risk further damage.

You also sound like you're struggling to justify the cost of getting sorted against the worth of the car.

Quite a few of us have been in that situation, myself included!

My car was mint when I first bought it.

It was fine for a couple of years then I had my own run of bad luck.

I parked up in a layby off the motorway one day to stretch my legs during a long journey.

An air conditioning pulley from a bus or lorry sheared off as it went past and bounced into the back of my car at probably 50mph! Split my rear bumper and completely destroyed one of my exhausts.

A few months later somebody put a half inch wide scratch on it all the way down the passenger door and rear quarter.

A few months after that somebody reversed into my drivers side wing, caved it right in and didn't leave a note.

I felt like chucking the towel in and giving up same as you do now.

The cost of the repairs to get it back to it's former glory out weighed the value of the car but at the end of the day it's not just some sh**ter of a euro box.

It's an MR2, a gorgeous looking car and bags of fun to drive! I've just spent in the region of 6k getting mine kitted, resprayed, new wheels etc and even though the money value of the car isn't worth the money I've spent on it the satisfaction i'm getting far outweighs the cost! I bet more than 50% of the members in IMOC have probably spent more on their cars than it's actual value! I've bought myself a cheap run around for work now as the 2 has been retired to weekend plaything status.

Sorry for the essay but I hate seeing people losing their pride and joy because of idiots! My advice to you would be to think on it for a few days before doing anything.

Get yourself a shi**er to drive to work in.

Get your 2 sorted

(you know you want to!).

It's a great feeling rolling up to the body shop on collection day to see it sitting there gleaming like a new pin.

Well worth a few grand imo
