[Mk2] [NA] MR2 Colour, is this right?..please help!

Post by darrenmr2 »

Hi guys and gals! Im back (well nearly!) Sold my tubby over a year ago and got a pug 206 :( but am in the process of buying a rev 3 glimited N/A...so im happy again now :D Anyway the only problem is the colour...its not steel mist grey, its more of a silver/blue, like peugeots moonstone blue. The guy i am buying it off said it is a limited edition colour, dont get me wrong its really nice, i have just NEVER seen an mr2 this colour! Can someone PLEASE put my mind at ease so i can go and buy it saturday without worrying it isnt a genuine colour/car! Thanks in advance people, glad to be back! (well nearly!) :D

Yep standard colour, looks like he's colour coded the bump strips all round also :thumleft:

It has a Tom's front bumper also if you weren't aware... Check to see if its had a bump  Always think its a bit fishy if someone has just replaced the bumper for example. Could well be legit though

Hey thanks for the reply :D didint know it was a toms bumper, i had a look underneath it best i could (it seems really low and quite hard, he said it has bilstein (if thats spelt right!) suspension on it so i couldnt get RIGHT under it..i did remove spare wheel and all the plastic covering from under the bonnet to check it was the same colour and straight, and it looked ok :D thought the rev 3's were all colour coded anyways? Thanks again

Inside the engine bay was the same, everywhere really, was just a bit worried as i have never seen one that colour! Can anyone tell me about the suspension (see above) Thanks

Hi darren, it looks like a jap spec 10th anniversary car. These had bilstein shocks, wood steering wheel, a numbered ashtray and a 10th anniversary badge on the engine coveralso stainless door sills. The wheels have that dark grey colour as well which the 10th anniv had.
If it doesn't have the rear badge (engine lid remember), question part or full respray. The 10th anniv in UK came with full leather, not sure about the jap one though.

The jap anniv I think these were around
L/M reg, and the uk ones were N/P reg
Got any more info/pics?
I'm not sure what the colour is, but it looks like a toyota one though mainly used on the 10th anniversary and the rev 5 silver shadow ones with a black roof

The wheels he put on from ebay, they werent on it as standard..it doesnt have full leather or a wooden steering wheel, its a Glimited with cloth interior and a sports steering wheel. Cant remember if it had stainless sill plates or a numbered ashtray, im 100% sure it didnt though..can post all the pics he sent me if that helps..but i dont think its an anniv. model :( Its a 1995 M reg. thanks again

Hi Darren
Have a look at this.
Could it be 'Tropical Blue Metallic'?

Ok its an American site but it has some useful info, like how to read your VIN plate with regards to the colour.

Its probably just a standard G ltd then. I'm not sure if jap n/a's came with bilsteins though?? They do seem to sit lower than the equivilant uk n/a though. I'm sure someone will be along to clarify now... :thumleft:
