The problem is that the lights on alarm does not sound when the door is opened, however the key in ignition alarm works fine.
I asked my garage to investigate and they suggested that it may be the way the alarm has been fitted and as it is a thatcham alarm they won't touch it.
They have suggested that the Thatcham alarm may be wired into the door switches where the lights on alarm should be, but surely that would also affect the ignition key alarm.Has anyone had experience of this and are my garage correct?
I presume that I will have to take my car to a Thatcham approved fitter to get this resolved.
