Recent Server Probs

Post by mr2daz »

I've been trying to get on IMOC all weekend without success, then it dawned on me that I had put IMOC in the hosts file after reading about it a while back in OT. 'C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts'

Removed it earlier this evening and now (obviously) I am able to see the forum. Just thought it worth a mention as maybe i'm not the only one that has modified their hosts file and assumed the site was still down. Maybe it's worth sending an email to members about it?

Just a thought.

Lol, at least you fixed it!

I thought about this when the server IP changed at the weekend (and when it was suggested as a 'fix' previously) would have been better to get people to use the IP address temporarily.

Host files?! Bring back WINS!!

I'm not sure how widespread that problem is tbh - looking at the traffic levels I *think* that everybody will have made the switch, and the likleyhood of an email being useful to somebody is probably outweighed by the mass complaints we'd get by spamming everyone with some technical information which 99% of them won't understand anyway.
