Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

Post by jeffry- »

Not sure whats going on , but i thought updating to ie7 would stop this from happening. This now happens twice a week it doesn't matter what browser i use. I don't see this with any other forum or website i visit and strangely enough nobody else is reporting the problem.

The only way to get the forum to load properly is to delete the cookies relating to imoc

Refreshing the page makes no difference any idea whats causing this to happen?

It sounds like your ISP is caching a 'broken' and incomplete page and is serving that to you rather than getting the page directly from IMOC. ISPs that do this include AOL and NTL amongst others.

A <ctrl> R or F5 should force a refresh of a webpage you're at, and should result in you receiving the most up to date page from the site. However, ISPs that run web caches (as above) don't always do this.

Can I suggest you try Firefox instead of IE when this happens and see if that fixes the issue?

It does it with firefox , it does it with any other browser if you give it a week or so. Strange thing is a friend im talking to on msn its happening to him now too and he cant see the page.

Why is it only imoc doing this? #-o

Thankyou for taking the time to help me anyway :thumleft:

er, if you've got multiple browsers (which have independent cookie storage) doing the same thing, then you've got a problem with your ISP in all likleyhood. We have also had some outages as we switch servers, which could give problems with cookies.

I cannot get anthing other than "page cannot be displayed" since Friday night. I have been having problems connecting for the past week or two.
I've emptied all caches, deleted all cookies etc. and still no joy.
Any suggestions?
All advice welcome.
BTW this is not being posted from my computer.

I think it was Friday night when the server moved so it now has a different IP address.

Can you access the site using the IP address instead of the DNS name? Try http://89.200.137.185/forums/

If so it's probably that the old IP address is in the DNS cache somewhere.
Have you rebooted your machine? Are you using a router? What OS are you using? Have you ever manually edited the hosts file to include IMOC?
