fuel pump relay

Post by sam R1 »

has anyone done the fuel pump relay mod?
think it involved taking out the relay and bridging two of the pins on the connector. think its supposed to make the pump work at its higher speed all the time.
is it safe? :-k

I think you'll find this doesn't do anything but wear the fuel pump out quicker.

Running the fuel pump at high voltage constantly will yield no increase in performace, the ecu switches to high voltage mode as soon as you make boost. There is a reason on rev 1 and 2 cars why they fitted the relay, there is a 4psi pressure drop across the rail from cylinder 1 to cylinder 4, i cant remember the ins and outs but the made it run slower for certain reasons. On the rev 3 engine the fuel rail is larger and does not have a large pressure drop like the first 2 revisions, if i can find the information on it i will post it later.
