Bry, it looks like there's an intermittent problem with the backend database, but we're also seeing suspicious spikes in traffic to the server which are slowing things down at times due to the sheer volume of requests coming in

Must have just had one of those spikes as I couldn't access the site for a few minutes just now also I get absolutely no emails from imoc any more (haven't for a few weeks now) telling me of pm's or replies to posts etc

Bry, yes, was restarting a few backend processes.

Email : Its because AOL throw away all email from IMOC ( and other forums) as they mistakenly ID it as spam.

I'd try another email service provider. ( .. and don't use Hotmail or MSN either - they have the same problem)

Last night, I did some more work on the servers, and currently the site is performing well (pages returned in 0.8-1.5 seconds) which is about as good as we would expect normally.
