Search on Topic Title Only instead of Message Text Only...

I'm slightly confused as to the rational behind having a search option of Search Message Text Only?

Surely it makes more sense to search the Title only, not the message body only, as anything in the body will be in the title anyway (like e-mail searches and filters work).

When trying to find old posts, if I wanted for example to search for "Best Oil", at the moment the search engine will return hundreds of posts, instead of just the ones that were specifically about the subject.

i said this a good few months ago, mods said they would look into it.
it would be so much easier and would help newbie questions. (like all of mine)

I've had a look into this...

Technically not easy to do, especially retrospectively. The search database is already around a third of the total site's database size, as all the post test is searchable.

On a practical note, I'm not sure most posters carefully pick topics - eg a post titled "problem with gearbox" would turn into a recommendation to try some MT90 ..
