TIME ATTACK CLUB CHALLENGE 2007

Post by TimeAttackRob »

Good evening one and all,

I have been contact by a few member about the Time Attack Series for 2007, mainly about the club challenge.
I thought it would be easier to come onto your forum and keep everyone updated rather than hammering out the same email over and over.

For those of you who do not know what its all about heres the link : www.timeattack.co.uk

For those of you who have contacted us, the final timetables etc are being finalised as we speak and the format for next seasons series is near completion, we did have an AW11 compete driven by Richard Senter whom some of you may or may not know.

I will endeavour to keep you all up to speed with information as soon as I know the final details for 2007, until then feel free to visit the website, most of your questions can be answered by taking a few minutes to check through all the info therein.

Mods, If i have broken any rules please feel free to get in touch or edit as you see fit, failing that watch this space.

Season greetings :thumleft:

I would also be very interested in entering this for 2007 if you do get a imoc team together let me know. watched a couple of rounds in this years time attack and its something that appeals to me very much.

Got a few more mods to do to the tubby and then i would like to hope she'd be pretty competative in the club challenge series.

Excellent. If everybody who is interested in competing as part of a club team posts here we can co-ordinate our communication with the series!

Well I REALLY want to do this but I don't suppose my Supercharger is quick enough

T, can I borrow one of your cars? I don't mind which, I'll drive the Twincharger or the TRD car! 8)

:-k Hang on a minute, anyone know if you can use Nitrous? I've still got the Nitrous system fitted in my car, I juist need to get it working properly....

Richard did it in a 122bhp mk1 challenge car last year, yours will be fine Tom. I'm tempted to do it in mine, maybe.

i shall be competing in this in either my own car or the father new track car. both of which are mr2's.

not sure where the venues are yet though. hopefully the mr2's taking part can make a good account of themselves =D>

As long as we can fit the dates in around the MR2 Challenge series, we intend to be there in either a support or competing capacity. I'm currently working with a company to develop a better mk2 roll cage than those currently available (the safety21 / cusco cages raise a few eyes at scrutineering because of the dog leg at the front, and the Caged offering currently used in the MR2 Challenge series has one or two space limitations), so if anyone's going to need a cage now is the time to get in touch!

I can also offer advice if anyone is unsure about how to prep a car to MSA blue book safety standards (cage, ignition cut-off, plumbed in fire extinguisher, seat, harness etc).

If I enter personally, it's likely to be in a mk3.

Best regards,

Excellent, count me in definitely! :D

Rob, this bit:

Rules wrote: Vehicles which have soft roofs, i.e. convertible, must have a hard top installed and a roll cage which will be effective in the event of a vehicle rolling onto its roof. The hard top must be securely fastened to the body.

My car is a T-bar. It doesn't have a rollcage. But it does have an EXTREMELY strong structure above the drivers head. I am certain you will say this is ok, but I just wanted to make 100% sure..

And this is about to be recommissioned 8) :

sounds like a great idea :D

would love to see some rapid mr2's flying round a track :D , from looking on the time attack site it appears the club class cars dont need to be to msa standards.

is this correct, says they just need to pass scrutineering, have a helmet and wear a long sleeved top. no need fpr rollcages, plumbed in fire extinguishers etc etc

rob could you confirm?

Although the name suggets its an event for clubs to compete as teams as such. last year i dont think that was the case, it is just the term they used for non tuner cars who entered.

i think it is an individual event, with no clubs/teams. i may be wrong but thats how i understand it,

hopefully rob will be along soon to clarify this point and the point in the safety requirements for the club class

bu88er! I've just read this: :(

Rules wrote:A minimum six point rollcage is mandatory. Bolt-in or fully welded Cages may be manufactured from seamless T45, Chromoly, or mild steel tubing.

That's me definitely out then :(

ah but i dont think these rules apply if you are competeing in the club class?

only for the pro/tuner class are these rules implemented. as i seen a few cars at KH last year that definately didn't comply to all the regs for the tuner class! im sure rob will clear this all up soon enough =D>
