Have you spun your MR2?

Post by dan9 »

Mods: Can you fix this poll for me?

The leaves have started to fall off the trees, and now the ice is here too!

My car lost traction at realtively low speed the other day, and I ended up facing backwards on a (fortunately empty) country lane. No damage thankfully, but scary stuff.

Has something similar ever happened to you?

Vote on the poll, and please post any photos you have!

Dan.

No not spun but on one occasion i was coming off a big roundabout, not doing much more than 30mph when the back end started to slide so i corrected it and the back end went the other, it went like this for a few seconds. There were a few parked cars quite close too which helped me fill my pants quicker! Since then i've took it really carefully in the wet. 8-[

Never.

I use decent tyres and drive appropriately for the conditions :)

Now that I've said that I'm bound to spin soon, and will be made to look stupid posting the above!

many times, no damage yet though! Always in the wet.
When I got my first mk1, I spun it in first gear pulling out of a junction!!

I think we've all probably had twichy moments etc. Don't remember ever spinning mine on a road, but had a few plays spinning in car parks! LOL

 remember: just be safe, good tyres, and ause ppropriate speed for conditions and limits

mate, it can happen to anybody, its got nothing to do with tyres or driving appropriately (although they do help!) - recently Jinxy reported that he spun at 15mph when he hit a patch of diesel on a roundabout

Ive 180d it but that was because i was a noob to MR cars and was driving like a tit(only a low speeds on dead lanes though). Now its cold, i shall be very wary, the missus has driven various Mid Rear cars for yrs(she converted me from my Maestro and Skyrine) she spun her current MGF once in the ice.

diesel/black ice. Whenever someone spins/crashes there is always one of these present. ;)

Have never spun an MR2 on the road. Have spun on the road, once in 1990 the first time i drove a RWD car in the wet.

Have spun too many times to count on track.

ouch! remember you posting that!!

i spun mine, was about a few months after buying it, was coming of a roundabout which was slightly ofset from the road direction, so to exit it was a sweeping left hander. was racing an R32 skyline in the dry. was coming off the r'bout at 'bout 40ish, car on the inside and central reservation in the middle. mannaged to 180 it and miss both!! put the sh1ts up me big time! take it easy-er! now! still like to give it a bit of stick every now and then when its clear! i like to get the tail out every now and then.

Never managed to spin my MR2 (yet - hopefully won't on the roads) but have had a bit of wiggle from the back in the wet when I had cheapo tyres (thanks to previous owner)!

I've managed to spin my Peugeot 309 on a roundabout - took it too fast and it was a bit icy. Wide roundabout and no traffic so I escaped okay. That was two years ago. Definately scary!

True enough for trackdays but not for the road.

Never spun it on the roads, put it sideways and wiggled a few times, but never had it at more than 90 degrees

Span it lots at elvington and once at anglesea.... that was enough to tell me how not to drive on the roads.
