LE MANS 2007

Post by AW11 Forever..! »

Hi ALL MR2 Enthusiasts,

My name is Michael Sheavills and I represent the MR2 MK1 Club as North East regional Club manager.
I have organised and attended all of the past 6 Le Mans trips and I wanted to bring to your attention early proposed plans for next years trip.

As it was last year this trip is open to ALL MR2 enthusiasts who are registered with either IMOC, ROC, Two Brutal, MR2DC, MR2OC and the MR2 MK1 Club.

Its early days but we need to start thinking about getting this organised. Before you decide YES this trip is for me have a look at past Le Mans events. Click on the link below and you will be taken directly to information on next years event.

http://www.mr2mk1club.com/LeMans07.html

We can accommodate just about everyone and the good thing is that you can personalise the trip to suit yourself. The trip will officially run from:

Monday 11th June 2007 - Tuesday 19th June 2007

Le Mans 24h race event 16th - 17th June

All I need from you at this stage is for you to decide you want to go and I'll add you to my Le Mans 2007 mailing list where you will receive up to date information. Its proposed that we will be inviting MR2 Only magazine along for the trip which would be great.

Please email me directly at

[email protected]

I look forward to hearing from you.

Latest News Updated 17th October 2006

You can now book your ferry crossing with www.speedferries.com

We are sailing @ 7.00am on Tuesday 12th June and returning on Tuesday 19th June @ 15.00pm.

Prices at the moment are around £90 for your return crossing, obviously the earlier you book it the cheaper it will be.

Here is information from the MR2 Roadster Owners Club events page.

Ok you are looking at £90 for the speedferry but prices will go up the later you book it.

Optional stop over in Maidstone on the night before sailing. This is mainly tailored for people who have a distance to travel to get to Dover. For 2007 we have people coming from North Scotland and Durham. The price of this is £68 for a double room.

www.innkeeperslodge.com

The hotel is called the '' white rabbit ''

Petrol to Le Mans and back

The Chateau is around £10 per day per person, very good value when you look at the superb facilities and free sunshine...!

5 x day pass to Le Mans circuit including Wednesday and Thursday qualifying and Friday pit walk ( superb, must do ) The cost of the pass is around £55.

You will need a parking pass which lasts for all the time you are there and its roughly £20

The rest is consumables like food, wine and beer.

Don't forget you will need breakdown cover just in case, not worth risking it, I had to use it 2 years ago when my alternator bracket bolt snapped..!

Remember its a week holiday thrown in so it works out at excellent value for 2 people. If you have thought about doing it then you are already committed you won't regret it. Have a look at the past 6 trips from the above links.

Cheers

The following people have confirmed attendance on the trip, have booked Speed Ferry and are booked into the Chateau.

Michael and Joanne Sheavills
Carl & Bev Windsor - Coming in M12 NOBLE
Shane and Susan Watt
John Light ( From FRA Engineering MK1 Specialists )
Stuart & Chris Kynoch ( MK1 Club Chairman )
Gordon & Alison Moffatt
Peter Hartley & Reema
Paul McConnell
Spittinflames - Lee Kalse
Steve Shenton
Charles Frogge Fox and Celina
David and Partner
Hicks - Alex

I will add names once you confirm ferry booking and Chateau booking.

To book the Chateau here is what you need to do.

Email

[email protected]

Tell them when you will arrive and when you will depart which is Tuesday 12th June - Tuesday 19th.

Give them your names and how many people will be staying, probably only 2 if you all come in your MR2's.

You must tell them you are booking with the Toyota MR2 Club. If you don't do this then there is a possibility that you will be scattered around the campsite and not in the MR2 Village.

Please ask the Chateau to email you back confirmation of your booking.

Once all booked up let me know, I'll add your names to the list and all is official.

Job done...!!!

Any confusion please let me know ASAP

The owner of the Chateau is called Domonique Souffront

You're dead right there mate, I've seen the masterpieces that Woodsy produces, awesome...!!!

All MR2 Clubs officially invited for this one, the more variation of MK's the better. This ones going to be huge I can feel it. Have had quite a bit of interest from the ROC too.

Ferry tickets prices still £58 as of today Sunday 29th October. I'm told they will start to go up each month from 1st November - December and then considerably from 2007. Remember 250000 brits try crossing in mid June so space is going to be Ltd.

Ferry prices as off Tuesday 30th January £92 for a return crossing.

Cheers
Michael

We'll be there again with the Noble. And Julian V. (just finished the 1st stage of his TD-06 upgrade posted elsewhere) will be coming too.

We're sailing to Bilbao, up into the Pyrenees, and down into Bordeaux to stay with my mum for a few days. Then up to Le Mans for the week. Will be in Houx as usual. Then home from Cherbourg.

Bring on those mountain passes!!
