warning lights

Post by bozza »

Driving back home sunday night doin about 80 down the m1 when my oil, brake and battery warning light all come on at once as well as the red warning light in the bottom right of the dash (not sure what you call that). They stayed on for a few minutes then went out. Its been doin that right up till today when they decided to stay on all the time. Also the battery voltage drops right down when they come on.

Any Ideas???

Sounds like the same problem I have with mine, it's been suggested that the alternator is knackered.
I was hoping somebody here could let me know, she's now booked into the garage for Tuesday, so will let you know what they say when I get her back.

Definitely sounds like the alternator is on it's way out. I had the same thing a few months ago.

Confirmed as being Alternator (and in my case fan belt) problem. All sorted now.

The plot thickens.

Had the alternator changed and all was fine and dandy for a week but now when i rev to about 4000rpm all the warning lights come on again and the battery meter goes of the scale and all the dash lights and headlights shine a brighter. you can also hear what i thinks the alternator whinning. when the revs drop down again it all goes back to normal.

Whats goin on? Have i fitted a dodgy alternator?
