Shell V-Power 99 RON!

Post by screech205 »

Went to fill mi tubby up today with Optimax and noticed it's had a name change to V-Power and been branded as Ferrari fuel :-k

So duly asked my mate in the station what the crack was and he said it's been boosted to 99RON and price is staying roughly the same :D

Good old Shell!

i wonder how a UK spec Two will ran with V power since its mapped to uk fuel? might give it a bash and give the engine a wee clean.

I've had mixed results here (UK car, mapped for 95ron) :-k

As a test, a year or so ago, I used Optimax for 2-3 tankfulls in a row - no difference in fuel economy at all :(

But I've been filling up with Optimax (and now the latest tankful has been V-power) for the past 3 months (12 tankfulls) - and I've been getting 34mpg consistantly (increased from 31mpg) :)

Only other thing that may be a factor is that my car was serviced 3-4 months ago. Normally I don't notice any improvement after services :-k

I'll probably be going back to 95ron, depending if Sainsburys continue to shut half of their pumps whenever I turn up #-o

I found Optimax gave me another 30 miles to a tank as opposed to normal super

Hope fully it'll be even better with this new stuff

£2.30 a litre is ridiculous even tho it's like race fuel, think i'll be sticking to v-power!

Interestingly the MPG in my Civic type R has jumped up in the past week, perhaps being close to london my local shell was updated early and i've been running on this.

Probably more due to the fact everyone seems to be driving at 40mph these days.

shell lost a court case to keep the optimax name, so changed it to V-Power like mainland Europe - unfortunately we didnt get the 100ron they get :eye:

Just got some of this stuff today at Whitemare Pool services, Gateshead.

I immediately connected up my notebook to the PFC via Dataolgit, advanced ignition by 3 degrees across the map and hey presto, must be an additional 100bhp at the wheels. The car is friggin flying.

LOL.

Seriously though I wouldnt bother paying for another remap if you previously had it mapped on a fresh tank of Optimax.
