And with 3 hours experience on a demo version you're bound not to suck completely...

Never mind that - you can learn from CJB the master when you're in there!
Then race again the week after to see how you've improved :)

No worries, I'm too old for computer games anyway (apparently) so I've already got an excuse ;)

Of course, it might still be downloading...

Was good fun :D
4 of us turned up in the end for some wheel to wheel (literally ;) ) racing, would be good if we could get some more IMOCers interested for our own online series, especially if CJB manages to adjust one of the models to handle like an MR2.
Try and get there next time Waldo :)
(Don't lose heart if you keep crashing the first time you play, just keep the speed down and go easy on the throttle!)

'CJB the master' - apparently not!
Maybe the 'Master of Disaster' i.e. crashing out on every other bend

Thanks to AlexF, Goto10 and Vashy for dropping in tonight.
Goto10 set the standard and won nearly every single race of the evening, we will arrange another session and hopfully get a few more people along (maybe even someone slow enough for me to beat)

I will finish off the MR2 turbo and post a link on here.
Does anyone have the specs of a MK1, if so I will model one as well, not sure about the supercharger unless there is a way of getting the power curve correct.

Cheers,
Chris.

I tried - I got some error about the server running a different version so I gave up and went to the pub instead ;)

Ah - our fault, as we thought no one else was turning up we switched to the full version! Sorry :/
We'll make sure we keep the server as Demo next time so anyone can join.
At least that way I can avoid racing CJB in the caterham turbo (I suck with it, he doesn't :) )

(PS it's not a game, it's a simulation, you can't say you're too old for it then ;) )

Is this game any good then? How realistic is it?

Yes, it's great :)
Go to the website and select "What is LFS?" to read more about it and see screenshots.
http://www.liveforspeed.net/
As for realism, it's the best 'feel' of any driving game I've tried thus far (including GT4:Prologue)[/b]

Soon, probably next week now before we can get it all together due to xmas being inconveniently placed! Had a good amount of interest from IMOC 'Chat list' too, so might be able to get a decent sized grid together :)

By the way all you race fans, have you heard of the GTR Game?

Check it out here http://www.gtr-game.com/

Apparently it's a lot better than Live for Speed, but Live for Speed is good as an online game.

Hello and Merry Christmas,
How does Wednesday 29th December at 8:30pm sound?

***** I just found out I'm working on Wednesday night, I'm gonna run it tonight at 8:30 instead.

Once again the server will be called 'MR2 stuff' with password 'hohoho'
I will resist all arm bending / bribery / blackmail and run the server as DEMO from start to finish. Apologies to anyone who tried to join last time.

I have the MR2 Turbo model under test at the moment but could still benifit from a little more information. Does anyone know the distances of the front and back axles from the centre line of the car? (I had to guess on this one)
Also does anyone know the toe in of both front and back wheels in degrees, I tried to convert it from mm but am sceptical of my results? (please specify rev1,2 etc.)
I read with some interest that Toyota got the suspension 'right' first time (rev1) but had to make modifications to make the car easier to handle for the average road user, apparently rev1 suspension is quicker round a track than rev2 onwards 'in the right hands'.
Please divide your replies into 'I will be there on wednesday' & 'Flame' catagories ;)

Cheers,
Chris.
