Both then drew level at a roundabout going into a national speed limit stretch of
(private) road.....I heard him drop a gear and his engine wind up, so i dropped to 2nd and off we went.
..... but to my horror, i only very, very very slightly pulled away from him! 
This happened a further two times until we stopped at a set of lights and i put the window down.
It turns out its a Volvo 850 T-5 sport, running in excess of 320bhp and was an ex-cop car!
To make matters even worse, he had 4 people in his car!
Just goes to show, you can never judge a book by its cover.
