Crap insurance quotes

Post by dawolf »

My insurance runs out this month and my renewal quote has only reduced from £860 to £800 with Tesco. I'm 25 with 6 yrs NCB so this seems pretty damn high. Have phoned round several companies today but they can't seem to match this quote, they said it's because I had a claim 2 yrs ago and have an imported car with mods. Anyone got any recommendations? Heard Adrian Flux were cheap?

I had a few posts about this last month.

Tesco dropped from £800 to £669 for me, but I ditched them anyway.

I would have gone to Admiral/Elephant who will let a few mods go by (quoting around £500), but I had a mix up with the GT vs. GTS turbo (they don't like GTS).

This problem is resolvable by choosing turbo import, but I ended up going with A-Plan at £580.

I'm 28, 6years NCB, had a claim in 2004, plus 3 points, and have got filter, zorst and Koni kit declared.

Tesco are best for me...... remember cheapest isnt always best.

When i had my accident Tesco were top notch, alot of companys are crap at paying out.... but tesco just sorted everything and paid out quickly no quibble.

I'll stick with them for a while

dawolf - you are paying tooo much, I am 24 with 5 yrs ncb with Sky I am paying £521 FC with PNCB on a rev 1 n/a. I ditched tescos about 8 when they actually wanted to increase my premium by over £150 for no reason.

Try Bell Direct mate,

I am 27 with 6 years NCB and I pay £311 with mods declared. Fully Comp with named driver.

£800 is absolutely ridiculous.

Cheers, Lewis.

Liverpool and victoria. I don't think they are covering mods for new customers anymore though.

I've been told if I had a UK car the price would come right down to around £400, it's crazy. I'd may as well have a turbo rather than a G-Limited.

This is where insurance companies need to pull their heads out of their ar$es. WTF difference does it make if it's an import on not on an n/a!!!!!

Because when it comes to repairs, I'm sure most insurance approved companies will fleece the insurance companies for fixing an import due to "lack of workshop manuals, availablity of parts :^o etc". Yes, for a '2 most of these are not a big deal as it has a UK model, but not everything is the same. Besides, insurance companies use every excuse they can to milk you out of a large premium, then not pay out when you need to claim ](*,)

Try Quinn Direct. I'm paying £580 for TPFT @ 25 with 2 years NCB on a 1994 Rev 3 N/A UK.

I have heard that they can be dodgy enough, but I haven't had any problems with them.

Use Confused.com as it includes Quinns plus a few others.

Alternativley, marry Mr Sean Quinn's daughter...

Good luck.
