Opinions on engine

Post by King Stromba »

I know very little about the twin cam engine in the toyota mr2. Does anyone have any owner information on the lump along with any tips and general quirks it has?

The engines in my clio williams are low reving stroker engines (redline 6400 but they have 95% of their torque at 2500 revs). It difficult getting used to the high revving toyota unit. I keep changing way too early.

My engine is on 76,000 and im running semi synth 10w40. Is it worth it to run a fully synth in this engine? If so what is the best choice. I see ppl run magnatec, but the F7R in my williams hates that and runs very rough on it.

I dont mind paying extra for the best protection, as the engine sounds sweet and i want to keep it that way.

Any tips on keeping the gearbox healthy. At the moment it doesnt jump out of 5th and id like to keep it that way.

Cheers

magnatec is fine tbh. any semi-synth or fully synth will pretty much do.

You need to rev it hard to get the best out of it. When on track change up at 7500rpm. It'll do that all day no probs.

try and drive smoothly in 5th, ie don't lift off suddenly etc.
