New wheels - and nearly there!

Post by MegatronUK »

Finally got my new rear wheels and tyres fitted; 16x8 Compomotive MO 5-spokes, ET27... so they're a fair bit further out than the standard offset rims allow, a good inch and a bit. Tyres are pretty much on the max of being sensible - 225x40 Toyo T1R.

The fronts are 16x7 Raceline RL5 5-spokes, ET40, mounted on some fancy hubcentric spacers machined up by one AdamH  The boots on the front are more sensible 195x45 Pirelli's (though I have some funkier Avon ZZ3's to go on shortly).

There are tons more pictures from the progress of building this beast, showing virtually every step of the way. They're on my site, www.target-earth.net; warning, there are lots of pictures to get through! :D

The beast is almost finished, I've just been on with interior bits and pieces, replacing some nasty scratches on various trim parts with some better bits donated by mr Woods. I also need a new pair of wipers, have the intercooler fan to wire up to a relay, but thats about it. Hoping to get it tested and try it on the road before the end of the month (and to the MR2 mk1 club meeting at Chester Moor at the beginning of November!).

It's taken a long time to get this far, in fact since the beginning of the year when I first asked that fateful question "How to get more out of the 4AGE" to which Lauren answered about the 4AGZE and Woodsy taunted me with the idea of the 3SGTE.

I've come a long way in that time and spent a whole lotta cash along the way  .. but it's been worth it, and I can't wait to get this thing on the road! Woohoo! :D

I bet that's going to be a handful to drive!

Looking the dogs though.

Are you going to put the spoiler back on or leave it?

Yep, the spoiler is going back on, well, the Eurosport one, anyway... we took it back off again when we were faffing around moving the intercooler pipework about... this is what the boot lid area looks like:

As for how it will drive... who knows! I've got extra tuning bits to go on (unichip etc..), but I want to see what it goes like with the Supra turbocharger and the Supra TT intercooler first... I'm 'guesstimating' around 260bhp potentially.

Never driven a mid engined car, so it should be an experience!

My build cost spreadsheet says £3804, but I think it's slightly out; I've added a couple of little bits and pieces since the last time I updated it.

I'd say it has cost about £3900 in total. Yikes!
