Difficulty engaging second on times

Post by ldavies83 »

Not really difficulty more a distict resistance as if something is in the way and then it slots in fine. I'm thinking its more of a lubrication issue as its not the gearbox because it only happens very occasionally. Apart from under the center console, where else should I lubricate? Is there a specifc service schedule for it?

Cheers,

L.

is this happening when you are accelerating or deaccelerating? if it is during the deaccelerating phase it might be because the car is not fitted with a syncromesh gearbox (a more modern thing on cars).
not sure if this helps, but i have the same problem on my two!

Hi gordy, nah its on upshift, the MR2 has a synchro, I think mine is more of a problem with lubrication on the shift linkeage, I'm going to give the a good greasing ;)

Thanks for your help though \:D/
