hand brake cables between models?

Hi
is there much difference between 1a and 1b hand brake cables? I see that they are sold differently at brakes int' but cant see where the difference would be?
Can anyone advise if they are incompatible between different models?

they are exactly the same.

I know i've swopped a fair few spare cables off mk1b's onto my Mk1a etc.

The EPC has 3 different sets of part numbers for each of the 2 main cables.
Think it's years '84 - '86, '86 - '87, '87 - '89 or something
